Lots of tee pics and just noticed I can see the basket in the "Tee in the spring?" pic so kudos to the guys in MO giving us a bunch of looks. Looks much easier when the trees are bare and more brutal when it thickens up.
I think I will go Pred, RHBH, through the gap on the right.

Finally an interesting tree laden and shule free hole with choices!
I'm thinking my excalibur on a low line to that gap to the right and let it fade back...puts me in a good position for an UPHILL approach and the excal won't rise up to much and get in the branches like my destroyer would.....Probably a perfect Firebird hole...but I don't have one right now.

Yeah, I think I would love to play this hole. Actaully the entire course looks like this with hills and trees. Great looking course.

Prob a S PD down the right hand side and let it fade in.
We are playing to the basket we can see in the pic?

For the basket position in the 'spring' picture, I'd go with that hyzer line out to the right with an S-PD.

Yeah. I guess its about the best we have to go on.

I can't exactly see the basket from the tee, but it looks like it's a gradual downhill "banana" shaped shot.
I'd probably go with a Destroyer on a hyzer liine, maybe even a DX Eagle, depending on how much elevation change there is.

3rd picture, you see the 3 trees right in front of the tree, look just left of those. Sitting right next to the big tree.

Interesting that they took out that one tree that tightened the left route.....hmmmm I may reconsider. The lane in the latter pics to the LEFT is more inviting w/o that initial treefender there!

i'm gonna go with the disc i just started throwing, loving it.
ESP Surge.

Nice...a hole with possibilities, but no direct route. I'm liking the left side of the fairway more than the right...looks like there's less crap over there. I'm going to FH an ESP Surge to get into the clearing on the left and depending on the lie approach with a Z Wasp, Z Buzzz, or Star Aviar.

bcr, how's the surge on FH shots? i imagine it's decent, i like FH wraiths...so maybe i'll try the Surge. so far i've only thrown the surge BH

I'm just starting to develop my FH, but it flies the same way as my Wraith did. Pretty straight for most of the flight with a slight fade at the end.

despite the removal of that tree that hindered the left fairway and despite the temptation of the route beyond the initial gap....I think I am still gonna throw low hard and overtable and look to skip up the hill a bit........If it is muddy or the grass is long I might think about that left side route.....looks like a good sidewinder route.......love holes like this/ your thinking about strokes and playing smart and not worrying about losing discs.....this is how disc golf courses should be designed.

I like it this hole, as well. There are options.
The left lane still concerns me as it still needs to be a lower line turnover, which, if torqued a bit too much turns into a nasty cut roller for me.
I still like the hyzer line to the right, as I should be able to get it most of the way through before hitting anything, rather than an early tree of unhappy roller ending.

This hole is a lot better than the wide open holes for the HOD.

those missing trees add to the versatility of the hole,
but I'll still go down the right with a rhbh champion orc
slightly more hyser to make sure it curves left
maybe even get a nice skip up to the basket.
if the orc is acting flippy that day (temp/wind)
I'll use a my champion glo TL -
more wind, then more disc - I'll up it to a
fresh Star Tbird, Champion Destroyer or Wraith

Finally an interesting tree laden and shule free hole with choices! That was my first thought, too. Then I saw that most everyone is picking the exact same shot. ;)
I'd go low and slight hyzer off to the right with my SOLF. I'd try to get it to flatten for a bit but I wouldn't be too disappointed if it didn't.

i'd go with a beat dx teebird thrown on hyzer but flipped back to straight LHBH

Vision. Right side. RHBH hyzer to flat flip.
Awesome hole btw. GJ HoD... finally.

I would aim at that tree on the left, actually trying to hit it with a Champion Wraith but before it got there it would turn it ever so gently and float to the basket as if magnetized in some way.

love how that route goes directly over that tree stump......I always think....if that one tree wasn t there I'd ace this hole everytime! LOL

I have some friends that live in Festus, MO. While visiting there last spring, I was able to play this course, and I loved it! This is a fantastic course with a lot of great holes!!! There are lots of variable pin placements on the course so if changed frequently, could make for several really great layouts. The park is nice and very well-kept. I highly recommend this course.
That first hole is a great opening hole, and I did play the right side with a hyzer shot. I caught a small branch which killed some of the distance on the shot, but still had a good look at the basket.

Good old JB, how I miss thee....
I lived in St. Louis for a short time and played a tourney here once. Great course. I'd throw my r-pro boss down the right side.

this is my home course...there is about 25 feet of downward elevation change between the tee and where the ground levels out for the 2 shorter pin placements, which are the ones being most discussed in the thread. i'm LHBH, so for the A(255') and B(306') placements i throw a roc down the left side and try to hit the ground about 10' in front of the pin and let it slide up for the tap. for the longer positions (C-416' and D-486') i throw a hyzer flipped TB down the right side to cut left through the knockdown trees and get to a nice landing zone for an approach.
it's a nice starting hole- if you don't get the bird on the shorter placements, you're losing a stroke on the field or your card. if you get a birdie 2 on the longer placements, you're gaining on the field and a par will keep you even. a bogey here is not a good omen for your round! for 93 scored rounds there this year, i'm averaging a 3.0096 across all placements.

Probably RHBH Beast on a low hyzer line with the route on the right.
Thought about an ESP Surge thrown flat but that's still a bit to ovestable for me to get much D out of it on a hole like that.

TL Drive. Buzzz or Magnet approach.
RHBH worn ESP Surge on the route to the right

It looks like it plays much shorter than the 400+ it claims. I would throw a ESP Pred or Z force on the hyzer in the winter/spring and play the skip. When those trees are in full bloom or if there are longer pins than the spring shot suggests, I would throw a beat surge or XL on a roller through the gap on the left.

Looks as though I would want to play this course in the fall then with all the leaves gone. Tight looking hole. I think either way I probably would go with the hzyer route, RHBH, i guess with a firebird. If you do hit a tree in that fairway, maybe you would get a little downhill roll from it.

I've been wanting to get to St. Louis to play this course as well as a few others there for a while now. I'm going with a Wraith off the tee and depending on how cleanly I play it, a Roc or Aviar up to the basket.

going at it with Valk then birdie with Buzzz

This is one of those holes I'd want to throw at least a few off the tee if there were no one behind me. a low RHFH to the left gap with a TeeRex or Boss.
A Forehand Roller with a beat Excalibur through the same gap.
A RHBH Orc on the right.

PD in the gap just right of middle. Ridge approach.

LHBH. Z Wasp straight ahead. i can get the wasp around 330, not sure how much elevation drop there is if i'd have a shot at birdie, but i'm trying to assure a 3 by having a nice clean drive

that hole looks cool.....but impassable. I'd say i would go with a rhbh roller with and avenger ss and i'd cross my fingers

rhfh with an eagle x, sYlightly right of the "Y" tree
bettsjc
09-22-2010, 08:09 PM
RHBH
ESP Nuke
Left gap
Nose down
Slight hyzer letting it flip, turn over some and level off 350' down the fairway. Any tree on this hole ensures at least a 3.
Finally, a hole where it looks like it'd be fun to bring a few Nukes, a few newer Katanas and just try to hit the gap.
