Just go.. It's not a advertised kinda thing.. It's 7 bucks and 2 rounds of 9 holes (18) with a random double. It's a lot of fun!! I don't usually like to pull a Saturday there. I may this Saturday?!?

So how's league work? everyone shows up and gets split up into groups of 4? I've been playing for years but never played competitively. I like to play, drink, and chill. But I'm thinking leagues might help me get better at my game.

My buddy runs the Oakbrook "League" deal. It's on Saturday mournings at 10am I believe (Winter time 10am Sat., Summertime Thurs at 6pm). It's just "random doubles". pay 7 bucks, pick a card and get paired up with a random partner for "best shot doubles". There is also an ace fund included in the 7 bucks and sometimes it get up there (2 hundo). 2 rounds on the 9 hole at Oakbrook. It's a lot of fun!! I haven't been up in a while though. Get up there and do it!!

what does the 7 dollars go to ?

$5 goes to payout, $1 goes to ace pool, $1 goes to course improvement fund

At least I think that is the breakdown, I last played the Oakbrook league 2 years ago

so the group with the highest score takes 5x the amount of people played? So if 10 people played, the winning group would take $50 each?

WCG finally convinced me to join here.

The 2011 Oak Brook Doubles will start in April. The ace fund is minimal due to it being hit twice over the winter. Signs are posted at Oak Brook and both Lombard courses and would be happy to hand out more signs if others want to post them. The schedule is as follows:

April 7 & 14 @ 5:30
April 21 & 28 @ 5:45
May - August @ 6:00
September 1 & 8 @ 5:45
September 15 & 22 @ 5:30
September 29 @ 5:15
October - December is on Saturdays @ 10:00am

It is primarily the same every year. I need a few months off January - March.

It is a random draw doubles that costs $7 to play. $5 goes to the payout and the end of the round and $1 goes to the ace fund and the other $1 goes to the park. We play 2 rounds of 9 holes and sometimes add an exrta basket to make it 20 holes of play. Also $$ comes out of the ace pool if you get a deuce on #6.

If you haven't played Oak Brook, I suggest you do! I'm trying to get another 9 holes out of the park to make it a fun 18!

I hope you get to use some of the land around the ponds. Water hazards would make a already good course even better.

I agree with the water. However, the ponds that are near the course provide a lot of open feilds that they use for soccer. There are a couple of different layouts that could be used. Th problem is getting the parks to agree to using the land.

I hear ya. I always dreamed about setting up temp holes playing around and across the ponds for a tournament. I think it would be easier to get the parks dept people to agree to something that was only up for 1 or 2 days.

Putting up temp baskets isn't the problem. You could go out there with your own basket and throw where ever you want just as long as you don't interfere with other park users. The problem would be some shmuk taking the temp baskets. Not to mention the park district will not put forth the effort to add some extra holes for a couple of days.

I just can't wait for OB to have 18!
