I pitched a course today for a brand new park project. I was asked to come back at 3pm this afternoon and tour the new park property with the City Manager.
She liked the thought of it that much to want to look at the land together.

cool beans.
but be smart about it, don't tell the chick how much litter is gonna end up there, or how many potheads it's gonna draw, tell her how much $$$ it'll bring your local township.

How did you approach them? What did you say to get her to like the idea?

I've been telling the Disc Golf story for years. Someone in the know was familiar with a park grant they are applying for and know they were looking for programs for the land they've recently purchased.
It's not the right dimensions for ball fields. I went in and confirmed what I had heard and them pitched Disc Golf. She did a quick internet search and asked some city employees for their thoughts. Both of the employees had heard of Disc Golf and thought it was a good idea.
This afternoon I toured the land. They're giving me topographical maps and aerial maps for designing. The grant that will pay for the course is due in December. We just need to hope they get the grant.

Thats awesome. My city is actually now doing huge cutbacks because the vote to raise city taxes to cover the new billion dollar high school and academy for the gifted was shut down. So now the city is having to fire teachers, shut down most of the arts programs and much more. So I doubt now would be a good time for me to approach them wanting another $10,000 to cover baskets, teeboxes, landscaping and everything else it would take to make this one area of land playable.

But its great that your city may be getting money just for something like that.
Good luck on this and I hope everything goes well!

BILLION DOLLAR HIGH SCHOOL?
WTF?!?!
isn't that what Dallas put into their new stadium?
( i understand teaching special ed kids (or is gifted not a euphemism for spec ed kids anymore?) takes more than the standard amount of money, but WTF?? )

BILLION DOLLAR HIGH SCHOOL!
Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but its now one of the top largest and exspensive high schools in America. They have an indoor practice football field with astro turf and two outdoor practice fields with astro turf, and a ton of other stuff that I cant remember. They were going to be offering students college classes in fire fighting, nursing etc. without charging them a dime. They were going to just jack up the taxes.

Not a special ed school. Just another school for the parents who think their kid is better than your kid type school. Its a very materialistic, rich, redneck town.

Maybe she just likes long, romantic walks in a park.

Maybe she just likes long, romantic walks in a park.
Maybe...but she drove me around in her jeep and for some strange reason, the police chief road in the back seat for this journey around the park. Probably the strangest Disc Golf proposal/scouting of land I've ever been part of in 20 years of pitching courses.
