Additional Moderators

I'm looking for a few people that might be interested in volunteering to moderate a few forums. In particular, we need a mod for the Marketplace and maybe another super mod or 2.

If anyone is seriously interested please PM me and let me know a little bit about yourself (ie. have you moderated on another board, stuff like that).

So this post got me checking on the current line up of moderators and I noticed ERicJ was no longer listed. What happened to him? I hadn't seen him on the forums in awhile. That's too bad he's not around. He always seemed like a pretty cool dude. He was certainly a good contributor to the forums.

oo ooo let me be a moderator: i've been using/administrating message boards for almost 7 years now + i'm on the computer all day and can follow a simple set of guidelines + enforce them fairly!

Why don't you pick your top 3-5 choices, and put up a public poll? That way the community feels like it gets to contribute to the leadership on the board. It's a win-win. Just make sure that you're ok with all of the choices, then put it to a vote.

says the DGR mod... i've seen how DGR differs from DGCR... it's open to full on slam attacks and derogatory slurs that go back and forth w/o check

the rules are diff there than here... here you call someone a ***** and you get banned... there you get applause

actually DGR has a rule that you can not personally insult people, but if no one complains then it is probably not an issue.

Popularity contests are not a good way to choose a mod.

It wouldn't be as much of a popularity contest if Tim selected those that were voted upon. It just let's the members of the board participate, and would also give those that weren't chosen a 'warm fuzy' knowing that Tim thought them worthy of the job.

I've done this several times on my boards, and everybody that wasn't chosen has been MORE than gracious, and thankful for the opportunity. I even had a tie once, so I made them both mods.

That being said, this is COMPLETELY at Tim's discretion, and I myself will be totally and honestly fine with whatever he chooses. I just threw it out there as a suggestion.

LOL .. I'm not arguing anything, and I never stated that it wouldn't be a popularity contest. I honestly don't care how it's done. It was just a suggestion. I think you've gone a long way to make your point, and I'm sure others agree.
