How about you PM me the French translation and I can post it for you. That might be easier :)

Just wanted to let everyone know that the new fliers and business cards are now available for download.

If you don't have a printer and would like to post some of these up at your local course just let me know and I can mail a few to you. I can also laminate the fliers so if you'd like some laminated ones I'd be happy to hook you up with a few.

I may look into getting the business cards professionally printed as well. If that happens I'll post here and could send some to anybody that would like to hand them out.

Hey guys,

Just an FYI but stuff with the pencil logo is temporarily unavailable until further notice. The DGA contacted me and felt that it was too similar to their logo. Rather than waste time arguing the point with them, I've asked a friend to tweak and/or re-do that logo for me. I'm not sure how soon he'll have it done as he's a pretty busy guy but I'm hoping it won't be too long.

This doesn't really effect much as that logo was rarely used but I thought I'd mention it anyway.

Great flyers. The last time I checked, the DGA logo didn't have a pencil, lol, but I guess you can kinda see the similarities.

timg
03-14-2008, 11:40 PM
I agree, I don't think they are all that similar and maybe if I made more use of that logo I would have defended it to a point.

That said, I don't have the resources for any sort of legal battle with a small company so removing the logos was easier in the end. Plus, I don't make any money off the site so there isn't a good reason to pursue it other than proving some point and win or lose, it would end with me being in the hole financially over something silly.

Maybe you should just stick to the flying saucer, and the box of crayons with a dynamite stick. lol. :)

I've been contemplating removing the bag from the header.

wait, the DGA logo is just a basket?? If this is right:

http://www.discgolfstore.com/DGA-Logo-Sticker-p-13199.html

Pretty stupid for them to complain, I suppose that baskets are just a small part of the game....right?

Def not worth pursing though. Just figured I'd voice my opinion in case someone from the DGA reads this.

timg
07-18-2008, 02:38 PM
Thanks cloud.. the flier you see now with the basket is changed from what it was. The old basket logo had lines instead of chains and the top/bottom circles weren't complete.

I'm actually kind of glad they complained since I liked the revised logo better.

Cool, I'll be more than happy to print them out and post them. I'll do it as soon as I make flyers for my website about my local Disc Golf Course.

Just an idea, but have you thought about creating DGCourseReview scorecards.

I went to my local course today and was thinking about where I could put up one of your flyers. At the first tee there is a post with a box on it for scorecards...only there's never anything in there...it would be a great place to pimp the site...

tim i have an idea. about getting your site out there. as a newbi please forgive me if its already been done.but have you tried getting your logo printed on discs? and then selling them in packages w/ stickers fliers, cards, etc... they do this a lot w/ sk8board companies.

Matt,

I have this stuff:

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/store/

But I don't have actual discs w/ logos just because it's somewhat expensive to produce. One of these days it'll happen :)

Hey TIMG, I just started doing this geocaching thing (www.geocaching.com), and would like to leave some of the business cards in the caches I find. The problem I'm having is my printer is not working right, and I was wondering if you could mail me one of the business cards, so I can swing over to the copy place, and copy them. The other cachers are more than likely not DGer's so it would be a way to introduce new people to the sport. My buddy and I are even going to hide one at our local course to maybe get more people into the sport.

timg

PM me your address and I can send one out. Although I bet you could just throw the PDF on a CD/thumb drive and the place could work from that.

timg, I, uuummmm well actually I asked my wife(lol) to print out some of of your flyers in color. I plan to pass them around, put a couple of them up on the bulletin board at my local courses. This is by far the best site when it comes to disc golf. The personalized bag tag is gonna go much further when it comes to promoting the best site for disc golf. The PDGA discussion forum stinks compared to what I have found on this site. Thanks timg, and the rest of the members here, this site is how you truly move the sport forward. Once again , thanks timg, and all the members here!

How much do you charge to mail me a couple laminated flyers? if you charge at all?

I don't charge at all.. PM me your address and I can send you a few.

If you send me a couple laminated ones (#1), I'll post one onto the message board at the Park Circle Disc Golf Course. The flyers in there get moved, covered up and removed from time to time (no lock, so anybody has access). It depends on how many DG tournaments are going at any particular time. It's pretty crowded right now...

For example, a flyer I put in there about the course web site is completely covered right now. Or it may have even been removed (not sure). It was getting a bit faded by the sun's rays anyhow.

I do appreciate the opportunity to show off our unique (and popular) 360 degree DGC on this site!

Hey man what is up, I am new here but would be hppy to post some around all the courses around the salt lake city area, I play all of them on a semi regualr basis. Would be nice to get some new people on here that i could go play with locally and get this courses here some respect. Thanks and GO PLAY!!!

timg
08-07-2009, 09:43 AM
Ok, I might have to change my stance on charging for the laminated flyers. I normally have to buy envelopes, pay around $2-$3 postage and then there's the ink and the cost of the laminating sheets. For one or two flyers this isn't bad but it gets kind of expensive when you multiply that by many people.

timg,

I have to tell you, I love the pencil/basket logo you came up with... One of the most creative incorporations of a basket into a design that I have ever seen.

Nicely done.

I own a print shop if you want me to produce many and ship them to you. No streaking.

Can anyone recommend a place online to print the business cards in color? I'd like to hand them out to everyone I see playing in Maine.

Printed one and put it at the local course. It's still been there after a week and the rain hasn't damaged it.

I've noticed participation in some areas is stronger than others. It seams pretty dead for Idaho. I have added some of the courses and updated others. I'll print and post these at the local courses and see if that gets it going. The local club has tournaments and a bunch of other stuff on their LAME website and they would just be better off using this site.

By the way. Your website is AWESOME. Thanks!!

I've had a few people join from word or mouth but Have never printed anything off.

Why don't we get disc nation to print fliers for them and dgcr. More people here mean more business for them.

I know this thread is old and dusty... (211 days!) but I think this is a really good idea. I'm going to print a few of these off and post them at the local courses. Word of mouth is good... but this will probably work better.

How many of these are still up at courses they were posted at?

timg
02-09-2011, 11:14 AM
A lot of the ones I posted locally are still up. I laminate the signs though. I can't say how many are up from my road trip a couple of years ago... I'd like to think they're still there :)

gottafixit
02-09-2011, 11:26 AM
I have a DG travel binder, and I keep the flyers and business cards stocked in it so If I hit a course that has a board that I can post it on, then it gets one and some cards as well. I've lost count of how many courses I've posted these at. My road trips have taken me up and down most of the east coast. I event took the staple gun on the plane(in my checked bag) so while I was in the WA and OR areas I could spread the word. I don't laminate things though which means i'm sure they don't last for ever but hopefully someone new joined the site and will take it upon them selves to keep up the signage at the park for others to see.

RussMB

May I ask what type of font you used? I'd like to make some of these, and put my RussMB #7842 under the logo. That way I could hand them out and people could find me on here. Which could go a long way for even P&R's and others that may be a potential asset. It would make us look respectable! ...sorta! ;)

Is that cool with you Tim?

timg
02-09-2011, 03:47 PM
I think the font is called Cooper.
