What is the one disc you love the most when going off the tee? It's so hard to narrow it down but I think for me it's my 176 weight CE Firebird X.

Pic:

It fights off these gusty midwest winds like a dream, add a little hyzer to it off the tee and you will always get the big trademark FB skip. Throw it with a little anny and it goes dead nuts straight with a huge fade to finish out. Spike hyzers, so fun to find lines in the sky with big shots no one would ever expect to see. Thumbers, there isn't a better disc for accurate distance thumbers (inb4 Epic, they go far but are a gimmick.) Forehand shots, I suck at them but with a good Firebird, I actually stand a chance if it's within 250 feet. The CE plastic just adds to the list of things I love about this disc. The grip feels incredible and it takes quite a lick to put a ding in the rim.(as you can see I've managed to do so, spike hyzer right on a tree root, yuck.) Very predictable flight and gets me lots of tap in 2's.

I have 5 other CE FX's but this is the ONE. I highly recomend one if you don't mind paying the extra money for one. Current day Firebirds kinda suck, the Champs are all domey and slow and the Stars beat in too fast :(

What disc is "the one" in your bag?

You should try out an 11x Gazelle also, Those things are awesome for going dead straight or anny's that come back a bit.

150 Champion Valkryie. The 150 Star Valk is OK too, but I don't care much for Star plastic. I throw both and find I am more accurate and consistent with the Champ. Especially this time of the year -- in the cold, I can't grip Star for nuttin'! :D

River. It is a new love affair, but when I get my damn weight forward, and that nose down, that SOB just glides forever. 162 GL with tailwind or calm winds, and a 170 GL for fighting the breeze.

I'm gonna say it's my KC Roc. I can get it out to about 275-300 max. For me its just so easy to control and I've parked more birdies with this than any other disc in my bag.

My pearly CE Epic is my go to disc for all-around DG'ing... I use it to drive (both forehand, backhand, overhand), to approach (flies like a true marvel) and to putt with (why not... this thing is so freakin' aweome!!!).

My first thought at the tee (assuming pin is over 325') is to reach for the ND Surge, so that is probably the one for me.

Would be my River but in wind, my Pred dont give a damned. FH, BH, OH, Flex; does about all but turnover, which is why its so reliable.

I too have to say river. I just got it, but the first time thru it was amazing. It just glides with little to no effort. I have the flow also, but haven't put in as much work with that one yet.

GL Striker. I can throw it dead straight without much fade 325+ with a small hyzer flip. I have also used it for hyzers, anhyzers and even some turnovers (into the wind) with much success. I always carry two in my bag.

Settle down.

As to the OP, I'm sorry Cali, your question is wayyyyyy too vague.
I carry fourteen discs or more for most rounds, I use alot of them off the tee, I dont just haul a bunch of stuff around for show, thier all throwers.

You want my go to
LONG
Upwind left ?
Upwind right ?
Upwind straight ?
Downwind left ?
Downwind right ?
Downwind straight ?
MEDIUM
Repeat above choices ?

Or my go to flex driver ?
Or my go to hyzer flip driver ?
Or my go to thumber driver ?
Or my go to forehand driver ?

I throw all these shots from the tee, and every one I gotta disc for,
pick one and I will give you my rock solid choice.

The nicest thing about playing this game for 20 years is that I have had plenty of time to learn what each and every disc I own is supposed to do.
I have the old Innova disc chart memorized in my head, so I can figure out whats gonna work best, assuming I throw the required shot, of course.

Like a ball golfer has clubs for each situation, I have found it's much easier to use the correct disc for the shot, and not try to force a disc to do things outside of its design parameters, so I carry a wide range.

Bottom line, I aint pickin jus one. :\

I wish I had "The One" type of disc because for me it seems to be changing almost every month. Earlier in the year it was my Star Teebird but fearing that it my wear out of that perfect groove I started playing with Gold Line Rivers. As I was working on those, my Star San Marino Roc became the most consistent thing in my bag and I was using it for everything under 300 feet. Then the GL Rivers started coming into their own and I literally stopped using my TeeBirds. In the process I was committing myself to Z Nukes for anything over 350 feet. Yet in the last two weeks my Opto Flow has been everything short of absolutely amazing.

For now, my "The One" qualifies as a combo. For everything from 260 to 350 I will use either my X-Link Ascent or Gold Line River. Between those two it should cover nearly 75% of my drives with everything else being either a Flow, Nuke, Roc, Fuse, or Firebird.

Haha seriously. I don't need a flight chart to tell me what my disc is supposed to do. I just pick the damn thing up and throw it, come on dude.

Pushing a disc outside of its parameters is a humongous part of any professionals game.

Also, it was a very simple question, you didn't need to go on a rant.

Man. All the Lat 64 stuff I'm hearing about in here is really tempting me to start experimenting with their discs.

Do not experiment, convert. Once you go Swede you never go back.

Currently I am using a Flow, River, Fuse, and Trident in my tourney bag. When I go smaller I always use the River, and in the last few weeks I have really come to appreciate all the Fuse can do.

I used to love the Striker, but the first runs, not latest batch. The first runs were very much like Rivers, just a tad less glide and a tad more speed.

I am also sitting on some Halos, a Striker, Pure, and an XXX that come out when I play my all Lat64 bag.

Mine is my Z pred. I throw old yellow z preds mostly. (I have 4 or 5, and have other colors I like too) My wife recently dyed it for me actually. The red tye dye I did 3 or 4 years ago (preds are constantly rotating in my bag). http://i869.photobucket.com/albums/ab255/tdk_dumpalbum/Disc%20Dyes/Photo0288.jpg

Whippets are so bad ass. My favorite thing to do with mine is throw it straight at the ground with hyzer, about 30-40 feet in front of me (works especially well uphill and if it's nice and dry.) and watch that little freak of stability skip FAR.

I about dropped a 100+ foot skip right in the bucket the other day taking a skinny ceiling route out of trouble. One thing Whippets do not excel in is grabbing the chains and dropping though. :gross:

I have a Z Nuke that I absolutely love and crush it when I throw it, except I throw it to far on most holes, so in shorter holes I have been ripping the tracker and loving it. I can put all my force into it and have the thing go straight then super nice fade.

I just give it a flick with my wrist and it glides long and straight.
If I put some arm behind it, then it will hyzer flip for long turnovers.
Great for tunnel shots or low ceilings due to its glide and accuracy.
Definately my "go to" disc.

Hyzer-flipped Z-AvengerSS is my favorite tee shot. Most of the holes in Vegas are really long, so you rarely need anything tricky off the tee, and distance is your best friend.

What is the one disc you love the most when going off the tee?

A slightly seasoned 165 DX Gazelle was “the one” when I was throwing 160s. I threw Gazelles in various states of beatness nearly every tee shot, forehand and backhand, so I know exactly what line to take. On a high anhyzer line, they would fly about as far as my Valks, finishing with a slight but reliable fade. The Gazelles even stood up to a fair amount of headwind.

I have not found a comparable replacement since switching to 150-class drivers.
