I am just so stoked that I got my foot in the door. I have an upcoming meeting to discuss the possibility of installing a new course in my area. Any tips for the meeting? Keep your fingers crossed for me. This would allow me to have a "home course" and save me the 45-60 minute drive each way to the courses I currently play.

UPDATE:

I have had 3 meetings with the parks and rec. This past Wednesday, we presented it in front of the parks and rec advisory board. They jumped on the bandwagon immediately. I woke up this morning to find that my city newspaper featured a FRONT PAGE story on the course proposal. We will be doing a neighborhood meeting/information clinic on April 2nd and barring any extreme negativity, it looks like the course will go in the ground over the summer or early fall. SO STOKED!

Advice: make sure you get some golfers with kids out to this meeting with the neighbors. They'll have a harder time opposing it once they see that kids are involved with the sport.

thanks Peter. That is great advice and it is what I am working for. The article that was written also points out that I teach P.E. at a local school so I have the opportunity to spread the sport to the entire town from the ground up.

Awesome. I'm doing a proposal tomorrow evening for a private boarding school. I've been working on this for about one year now. Way to go brother!

I'm sure you know this already, but make sure you get a qualified individual to do the course design. The excitement of having a home course near by can quickly be offset if the course sucks...

Believe me, I've been in that boat.

Hey Coach, I stayed in Casa Grande for the Memorial and read the article in the paper. Good luck. It sounds like it's going to happen.
