Talked to a local guy who suggested trying white star plastic for multi color dyes.

The linux one came out great. Did you use liquid or powdered RIT? Would you mind sharing your equations for the black ink?

Yeah the penguin is my favorite, I like the VW one too as I drive a jetta. Though it did have some bleeding. I used powdered RIT except for the red on the pink disc. As for the ratio I don't have anything precise, I just used one package of dye and filled my 5 quart pan about 1/2 way.

Nice. Thanks for the info. The VW is nice too, aside from the small bleed. Crisp. One more question if you would be so kind. You bring the water up to a boil then slowly mix in the dye I believe. How hot is the dye when you put the disc in? Do you turn off the fire, wait a few minutes or...?

I never boil the water. I get the pan hot enough that it is warm to the touch but not burning. The dye should be steaming slightly then I turn off the heat. I reheat after each disc.

If you're using the liquid Rit, I usually do about 1/8 cup of dye to 3/4 gallon of water. Pour hot water into your pot followed immediately by the dye. It's usually hot enough for me in about 5 minutes or so.

LOL! One more question bro. Do you put the disc in while it's steaming? I don't want to warp a disc on my first try.
