How long do you let the dye sit before dipping?

You bring your dye up to the point where it is steaming. Do you turn the heat off and let it sit for a while or do you dip it while it's steaming?

Are you using the "double boiler" method or is the pot directly on the stove?

Thanks for the quick reply. I think what I'm going to do is heat the dye on the stove then pour it into a plastic container I bought for dipping.

In that case dip it immediately. The warmer the dye, the quicker it will dye the disc.

In that case maybe I'll do it right in the pot. No sense in risking my apartment with a dye transfer. Thanks for the help. Will post results later for better or worse.
