I am have designed a course in the back property behind my house. So far I have a front 9 and a handful of other holes. I am slowly making it an 18 hole course. Does anyone else have a course at home or a practice hole or two in the yard? I will have pics soon. Post yours if you have them.

I have a basket in the back yard that I can throw a bunch of different shots at. I wouldnt call it a course, but it is nice to practice on. My friend has a farm and he has a couple private courses he can set up. It is only 7 min from home, so it has become my go to place to dg.

I cant wait to see what you have done. What type of holes you looking at? Wooded, open? lets see some pics.

If you're talking about an actual course---not 9 or 18 different throws crisscrossing the same yard---there are plenty. Check out many of the private courses on this site. If you've got a disc golfer with available land, eventually you'll have a course.

There are lots of cool courses on people's private land listed on the site, and even more out there that aren't. Flip City, one of the top rated courses, is one guys project on his chunk of land in Michigan.

I've got about 30 holes laid out for my side yard and the adjacent woods. Someday it will be playable as a loop, right now I only have one basket. It should be pretty cool when done. I have a nice tight tunnel hole in the woods and come summer there will be an elevated tee throwing out of the woods into the field.

Here's a crappy pic of the tunnel hole early in its evolution:

Oh, and I have two holes playing along railroad tracks on the other side of the woods. No pics of those, pretty fun though.

as the OP knows hawk hollow is actually on my nephew's property rather than mine. my house is about 2 miles away. prior to moving the baskets down there i had set up a variety of courses at my own place ranging from "tiki-like" practice course in my yard to a monster long course in some of the pastures.

I put a 9 hole putter pole course behind my work that I play. My boss wasn't very happy. He said I can leave it if I removed the poles when I am not playing. So I basically set it up on my first break, play two rounds on lunch, play a round and take it down as I go on second break. I am sure I'd have to remove it if other started playing it. If he stops being a tool, I will teach him to play this spring. Maybe then I could leave it in. All it takes is a long duece to hook someone.

It decent for a putter course, mixed wooded and open, water comes into play on two (three if you hyzer out) of them. Holes 90-180'. Some crossing fairways though (not that it matters, doesn't get alot of foot traffic). He told me I needed to removed the one in the front of the building. Which was fine. They weren't as good, plus terrible throw could have hit people's personal vechicles. It's tough enough I am still chasing that 18 or less. Going make some adjustments in the spring. Going to try and stretch it to 150-250 holes. We'll see. If trucks weren't in the way sometimes, it'd be easy. But gotta plan as if they are, because generallty they are.

Love the idea of playing along the railroad tracks! I'd keep them in play. That would be add some pressure to be making an upshot with a train bearing down on you hahaaa.

Hawk Hollow is on private land.

I have a bit of land out back that nobody uses. I have a 9 hole course that plays to 3 baskets and a homemade target. Everything from 105' downhill ace run to a 325 wooded hyzer. The part that is in now has natural tees and very tight wooded fairways. Two of the baskets have ob logs surrounding them.

The still evolving "back nine" starts with a 300' downhill shot with ob right and behind the pin area. That pin is in a field so I just move my practice basket from one area to another. Hole 11 is almost 400 feet and starts in a field then has a wooded approach.

The design is evolving as time goes on. Yesterday I found a great alternate tee for 3 and some alternate pin ideas. I have been using long stakes with pink ribbon tied to the top to test out pin placements. I will take some pictures today so I can share. Anyone in the Annapolis area who wants to play pm me and I will bring out the baskets.

"The Monty" at Deer Ridge Park, near Monticello, GA, is not on private land, but its a course designed, installed and maintained by basically one person. I love playing there as it's never crowded, and is a great example of what one or two people can do with a little imagination, paint, and some old, refurbed and repainted baskets. All the signage here is homemade, but its some of the best I've seen. I alwasy feel like I'm in someone's pet project when I play here.

I REALLY want to play that course. If I ever get around to getting out to CO again, I'm hitting you up to see if I can.

I have aspirations of eventually placing a course (a real one, not just some temp baskets placed around) on my land someday. I'm a senior in college right now, and I've started looking at houses/property around the area I'll be working. I've pretty much refused to look at properties with less that 15 acres. I'd love to get my hands on a 40+ acre property.

Within a day trip of me I can think of someone who lives on a disc golf course (but the owners don't play)....a couple of farms with courses (don't know if the owners play, but you'd think they'd at least try), a private course closed due to government bureaucracy---plus a cluster of private courses in the NC mountains, of which I'm sure at least some are on property owned by the disc golfers. Oh, yeah, and those Stoney Hill guys.

I'm building a home course in California. Got 4 baskets set up, looking to add a couple more. No pics yet but the course is really cool. There's major elevation changes, huge hucks, downhill shots, and a nice balance of wooded versus open holes.

The first experience I got playing a private course was the Soaring South in Gulfport, MS. It was on some guy's farm with all his livestock all over the course. Decent course, water hazards on every hole, but livestock $*!@ everywhere. Last I heard it was closed though.

Holler In The Hills in Brownsville, KY is another private course that was in the top 10 a few months ago. Check out the pictures there for some ideas on what can be done with limited land available. Its got some really creative ways to incorporate elevation changes, woods, and boulders if you want to venture down that path.

Ain't that the truth. When I lived about 20 miles south of where I live now, i have about 7 acres. I would take my 3 portable baskets and position them in areas and take orange outside paint and make 6 tees per basket. After two or three times mowing the grass, it would be time for a new design.

I hate that I don't have enough land anymore. My inlaws have 80 acres in Jonesville, SC. I've got an object course there...just can't talk my father in-law into buying baskets...yet...

Looks familiar...isn't this the "course" that was added, reviewed thrice (getting ratings from one end of the spectrum to the other!), and promptly removed after the 3rd "review" stated the course was a joke? :p

I've got enough of a yard that I'll be able to throw something together once the wife gets me the portable for my birthday in January. It'll be the kind of course you aren't allowed to play sober, unless you're one of my children.

I have 9 acres, 7 baskets, and 2 tone targets. I have a course designed that I can play forward and backward so I use each basket/target twice I also have a basket with 3 holes playing to it so I can play 20, 18, or a short circle of 12, but of course I can always turn around and play the other direction whenever I want. My holes range from 195' to 400' and are all in the woods with anywhere from 8-20 foot wide fairways most are about 12' wide. With them being played forward and backward I have the same number of right and left curving holes so it is good practice I have wanted to get somebody over that throws sidearm so they can tell me what I need to do off the tee for sidearm throwers. Of course I spend a lot more time working on my course than playing there is always something that needs doing.

If I can even get 20 acres to live on, I would only use 1 for myself and have the other 19 for a course. The baskets and materials are easy, it's finding the perfect spot to plop my flag down.

Thanks guys! Yup, Dixie Lee is mine. I had no idea when I started playing dg that I'd get this into it. With the closest courses an hour away in any direction, I had no choice. And when I started on the course, I had no idea it would turn into a 9 basket layout. I originally had one ebay basket and two portable Skillshots. I hated having to move them all of the time, though. Thus, the Dixie Lee DGC.

I also posted several pictures of other local places where I set up my portables for practice in the other thread dodgeball posted. Some day, there will be another course in the Cumberland, MD area!

Here's the Dixie Lee course page... complete with a couple videos. I really need help! :p

I have a private course at home. It features 6-10 different natural tee pads shooting from different directions at a single Skillshot basket. The longest one is about 60' but there are multiple trees in play. You just have to watch out for the poison ivy and the dog poop.

All this is to say I wish I had a bigger back yard and admire what you've done there.

My buddy has a great 18 hole course through an old orchard that can be set-up in either direction. Since they are flagpoles with cans, they can be repositioned at will, and have some guarding apparatuses around some pins, and a couple of unique mandos that make it a fun huck-and-chug Wednesday.

I had to take to playing the course with a completely different putter, as it was messing with my putting on basket courses, big time (hole out is "can or below".)

I've got 18 in my yard. I had pics up but they got removed.

here's a pic of my favorite hole in my yard. it's 300 downhill. in front of the pin where all that brown stuff is... is OB. There's about a 8 foot gap between the pin and OB. its an insanely fun hole to throw on. you either have to throw it out right and let it drift back in past the oak or throw right at it and hope it carries the 300.

Got the Instep basket earlier this year and have since set up an 18 hole course utilizing this single basket. My back yard is moderately wooded and long and leads to the mid-fairway of an actual ball golf course. the edge of the fairway itself has trees, high brush just to the right of my property and some other trees scattered about. There is an asphalt path separating my yard from the golf course which can be treated as out of bounds as if it were "water". All of the tees for my course utilize prominent markers such as large trees, yardage markers, sprinkler heads, and other permanent items on the course. The first two holes play from each side of my house to an alternate pin position placed at the back of my yard just in front of the path. After that the basket is moved about 35' up towards my house and is centered in my yard. Essentially most drives are fairly wide open, but once you get anywhere from 100' out or so the trees become a huge factor. There are two main "tunnels on each side of my yard that most holes are intended to be thrown towards. The golf course fairway does have some elevation change which helps add to the difficulty.

I like it because you walk a lot more (from same basket to new tee) every hole providing some moderate cardio. and the open fairway is good practice for working on drives while the approaches and putting helps fine tune my aim and precision. It is what it is and I have fun throwing around on it, plus I think it will be a great option during the late Autumn and Winter seasons when the ball golfers are scarce and cabin fever starts setting in.

Holes range from 200' up to 480'

Its not an 18 hole course if it is just one basket. It is a one hole course with multiple tees. Also after your second throw on any tee you have pretty much the same shot.
bluemont has 3 tees for 9 baskets, they do not call it a 27 hole course.
