Does anyone know about a new course in Raleigh, NC - specifically by the airport/Lumley Road area? Could be just a rumor, but wanted to confirm if it was developed (or in process of development). Thanks.

Haven't heard anything about it.

I haven't heard this either. It would be awesome to see RADL up and running again though and getting some new parks installed. Last I heard was at the State Parks and Rec meeting (held in Raleigh), that none of the Wake County Park and Rec people even bothered to show up for the session on Disc Golf. I've brought this up before, just because I would love to see Raleigh/Triangle area grow in disc golf. But someone has to do something to improve the relationship with Parks and Rec.

BTW, I did play a new 9 holer in Durham, probably close to where you're talking about. That place needs a lot of work before it's playable though. I can't remember exactly what street it was on.

That has to be the one that I am referencing - is it a public or private? Do you have a general idea of where it is located?

In regards to the Wake County meetings, please let me know when there is another session, since I would be very interested in contributing to the cause for more courses in Wake.

Hey Mike, that was a state meeting, Mike Norris told me about it, he, Jay Pontier, Toomes and a few other guys went. He said P&R from other areas attended the meeting, just not Wake. Raleigh Parks and Rec aren't happy about the going on's at the courses. But it's going to take many more people like Kirk Yoo, who does go out to those courses and doesn't mind telling people to throw out beers and etc.

I will get the Park Name for you from my friend, I'm not terribly familiar with the Durham area. But honestly, it's not worth your trouble. It's not developed yet at all. It does have 9 baskets in but no cleared fairways.

Thanks for the info on the park name. If it is off Lumley, it is very close to my house and I would want to put in some workdays to assist in it's development.

I understand Raleigh P&R's stance...although Kaplan is a by-product of the area demographic. I believe it is a continuing eduction to both P&R and DGers. Regardless, if you hear something, please let me know.

Yeah, the Raleigh courses have issues with garbage, but the problem there is pretty obvious isn't it? The times I have played Kentwood or Cedar Hills it seems that there is basically a college crowd. Just some typical age and maturity issues that won't be solved too easily. We need courses a little further out in the burbs. Although UNC doesn't have the issues the Raleigh courses do. Does that say something about NC State vs UNC?? I don't know, but I just avoid Kentwood, Cedar Hills and all things Raleigh. What we REALLY need is a nice 5 disc monster course in Apex with a micro-brewery on site. And free shuttle service in a small radius.

QFT, especially the last part.

I don't know why the NC State kids litter so much more than UNC, my only guess is that less students play UNC (maybe b/c it's harder?) than they do Kentwood or Cedar Hills. I know that whenever I play UNC there always seems like less people period and of those people at least half are DG'ers like me rather than students.

Sounds like the RTI course to me must be an employee of RTI or playing with one.

Yeah, I was thinking that. I've played it a few times - actually posted it on this site. I thought it was a decent 9-holer.

Found (and played) the new course. It is Bethesda Park in Durham. Put up the course on the site (Bethesda Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=4369&mode=ci)), but like U_NICED_ME stated, there are minimal fairways.

The RTI course is decent actually, nice place to catch a round during lunch! KK did a good job on it, now if it was that easy for the rest of us to get funds for a DG course!!!

No worries, my friend was able to give me the details. I have already contacted Durham P&R to volunteer on course maintenance - it needs it.

I have a friend that works at RTI now. She never told me about the disc golf course there. Then again she has only been working there for less than a month.

You can find the details here (RTI DGC (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=4099&mode=ci)). You need to play with an employee and a course map helps...I never got the chance to upload the map and need to find it now. She should be able to get it from their intranet though.

I don't know why the NC State kids litter so much more than UNC

Well of course by strict definition NC State kids "litter more" there's almost 3x the student body! If you're trying to say something it's per person I'll call BS - have you ever been to Franklin St. after a big win? What about halloween?

Chapel Hill, despite its growth recently, is still a small town compared to Raleigh. They deal with a completely different set of issues, and you can't compare the two apples-to-apples.

Sorry - can't just sit and let some UNC types talk ****e about my alma mater :p you understand.

That said, I do agree that Kentwood is not the choice course for skilled individuals looking for a competitive round. However if I were Raleigh Parks & Rec I would just look the other way so long as it stays in that tiny park and hold other parks to much higher standards. Maybe it's too progressive - but containing the problem to that small area where most kids just walk from their apartments across the street anyway prevents larger issues from occuring.

Cedar Hills though...bring down the hammer.

There's no litter at UNC because everyone's traveling as light as possible on that course!!! :p

Definitely, you just need to sign in, get a visitor's pass, and I don't know if someone has to be present with you or not. I played with KK, I can ask if you'd like Plank.

well it will be a while before i get back to the triangle. The person that works there currently lives in Sparta and drives there on a daily basis. She is looking for a house in that area this weekend.
