I know what a sky roller is, but i'm not exactly sure what a sky roller is and how to throw it. And if there are any other specific types of rollers, I'd like to know what those are and how to throw them.

as far as i know
sky roller - big anhyzer throw that covers 50%+ of it s flight in the air before it hits the ground and then rolls
Roller - disc thrown at the ground early in its flight with the intention of rolling on the edge.
Cut roller - Ive heard this term sued for a disc that is very under stable that is thrown flat, and due to its understandability it turns over into a roller.
I have also heard this used to describe a roller that turns sharply in one direction as it rolls along the ground.
Flick roller - Forehand roller
Get out of trouble roller. - speaks for itself
Roller disco - throwing a roller with a illuminated disc?
Rules of thumb.
Back hand rollers work best with under stable discs.
Fore hand rollers work best with overstable discs.
You will be called names when you throw rollers, especially as you smoke your opponents off the tee.

I think a cut roller is the opposite--such as an overstable disc thrown backhand with a lot of angle that lands early.

i find the more stable the disc the farther it will roll(for me anyway)...one i didnt see mentioned is the scoobie roller

I think it's the other way because if you roll it that way, 1) you're obviously not trying to get a roller and 2) the disc is spinning in the opposite direction of the roll so it really is not going to roll very far if at all.
I think of a cut roller as not quite getting an understable disc to the desired angle before landing so it cuts off to the left (RHBH) instead of rolling straight. My friend accidentally throws these all the time when he tries to anhyzer his Valkyrie and puts too much angle and not enough air and it rolls hard left after landing.

A cut roller is a roller that works in the opposite direction of the natural turning tendency of the disc.
Rollers tend to want to turn in the direction of the flight plate (i.e. RHBH rollers tend to turn right). A cut roller is set down at a more severe angle than normal, so that the roll pattern fights that natural tendency.
It's difficult to generalize about rollers - there are many ways to make them work, and many kinds of discs that can be used successfully.
Three are also many other kinds of rollers not mentioned, scoobie (just mentioned above), thumber, hook thumb. Think about it this way - any way you can grip the rim - you can make it spin - any way you can make it spin - you can make roll (or fly). Experiment - rollers are fun.

I'm saying throw it with a lot of anhyzer angle with an overstable disc. That way the spin is in the direction of the roll. I've thrown my boss over 500' this way after landing it almost vertically.
And take CraigG's advice before mine. I think he knows what he's talking about.

craig has thrown some of the most freakish looking "variety rollers" i have ever seen. i have seen him park an approximately 400 foot hole with the hook thumb roller (old #9 at seneca)- almost ripped my thumb off trying to emulate it.

Looks like I need to practice some rolling. I had no idea there were so many rollers. I usually just use the get out of trouble roller.

hah, yeah i definitely misstated that. I meant to say that i know what a roller is, but not a sky roller. good catch
