My question is, " What is the etiquette concerning DGCR Travel tags?"

Are you required to play for them? i.e. As you would for club bag tags?
Personally, I don't think so. To me, they show the distances DGer's will go to play new courses and meet other DGCRer's.

I recently traded my tag # 49 with Martin Dewgarita #57. Martin was on a road trip to get away from the snow in MN and headed down south to KS. We got hit with the heavy snows last week ( I think Martin was a snow magnet;) )
He told me that he had hooked up with another DGCRer who wanted to play for tags.

What are your opinions on this matter?

You're not supposed to play "for" them, as in winner gets the lower numbered tag or anything like that.

They're simply a "motivation" for traveling to new places, meeting new peeps, and getting in some quality dg on the way. :)

Thank you Jukeshoe. Those are my sentiments also. I was floored when Martin replayed his encounter

While the Travel Tags are not designed to function like a "Bag Tag", you can still do it that way...
For example, for the SoCal March Mayhem Meet (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27573), there will be between 6 and 8 travel tag holders. While some basic exchanging will occur throughout the weekend, we're also planning on playing one "bag tag" round with the travel tags.
We'll have to work out the details but that's one fun way in which you can do other things with the travel tags.

I'm confused..... If they're not made to be traded then why is there an option to see where the top tags are? It should be an option to see who bought their tags 1st then. I could be wrong but on the back of them I believe there's a spot to put who who exchanged with and the score that took it etc.

Just keep in mind that you can't trade for a tag that you've already had. How you decide who to trade for is your call.

You can trade with the same person time and time again as long as they have a different tag # each time you trade?

I've been polite, and waiting for the thaw before I challenge you, Tim. Figure I'm fortunate to have #1 around the corner from me!;)

Yea, you can do that. You just can't have the same tag twice.

I'll play a round any time but I just swap tags.. no need to win it from me.
