I have been playing for a 2 months.
I shoot about -13 under from beginner tees. ha
I shot anywhere from -2 to +10 from the tees we will be playing from. I just want to have fun. I want to play recreational. Would I be in AM 2 division or AM 3? What is the difference. Thanks a Lot!

Watch out for the island hole! You gotta land on it in tournaments or it's a penalty stroke

Ma3 is rec, ma2 is Int, and ma1 is advanced. If this is your first tourney play ma3

Yeah that's what I've heard the tournament rules are which is why that wood makes a little wall around the edges. May not apply to the lower levels tough

Bring a change of clothes ( you never know) but a extra pair of shoes and socks are a must. Just keep them in the car. After the tournament, its nice to change into clean, dry, cool, shoes. Your feet will thank me. I played two rounds back to back today on a very large course, and it was nice to get out of those hot shoes. I also bring a clean, dry hat to change into, because after a tournament, my hat is very hot and sweaty.
Also, bring some extra water, gatorade, or what ever and keep it in the car in a cooler, that way you have fresh cold water for the second round. You might also want to keep aspirin in your bag, in case you start to hurt. I also keep muscle cream in my bag for sore muscles. Also, look to investing in light portable chair. I carry one that weights only 1lb and it has a shoulder strap and folds up and unfolds very fast. A chair is good for two reasons. First, it gives you a place to set your bag in case the ground is wet and muddy. Second, in a tournament, things can get backed up and slow, and its nice to have a place to sit and rest.
I played on a card today with 11 people, and with that many people playing singles, it takes a while, and its nice to beable to sit and take a break.
These are just some things I have learned from playing in tournaments. I hope this helps.
Also, keep some extra discs in the car in case you loose one or two in the first round.

I would suggest checking out this link for past events at that course:
http://www.pdga.com/course-ratings-by-course?RatingCourseID=186
The SSA values listed there are what a 1000-rated player would average. But you can click the individual links and see the results from each tournament. Just be careful to check the number of holes and try to guess which tees they were playing for that round, it's usually indicated in the description.
