I played in my firts tournament on june 7-8 in waco and came in dead last in the recreational division. I was told that I got de-virginized on a hard tournament. i really enjoyed it, but wish i could have played better. I have never played two rounds in one day, so that was a challenge for me. I got some great advice from people, and i can't wait to play in another one soon. (I hope that i can get over the five disc I threw in one hole, that probably sealed my last place finish with a 15 on that one hole).

I think one of the problems is you said you have never played more than one round in one day. I was a little surprised to hear that. Every time I play, I usually play a round and then 9 or two rounds back to back with a 15 minute break in between. I think you may have been a little tired during the second round. Also, was that your first time playing that course?

I always like to play a course a week or two before a tournament to get a feel for the course and see what works and what doesn't. I would also suggest to see if they might be having any "Mini" tournaments near you. Those are usually small tournaments on 9 hole courses. You just play two rounds of 9. Two rounds of 18 can take its toll on you if you are not use to it.
My first tournament was two rounds of 21-holes. But, we did get an hour break in between.

I say practice playing two rounds with a 20 minute break in between. That will help you a lot in tournaments.

Yea I never play less than 45-54 at a time. I usually play 90 when I get out to play. The first time you do just about anything is always a learning experience so hang in there.

It was my first time playing that course. I heard alot of people came down early friday morning, and played, or walked through the course in preperation for the tournament. I appreciate the advise, I see I have alot to learn about playing in tournaments.

There is a mini tournament on July 5th that I am playing in and I haven't even seen a map of the course. Even though its only a 9 hole course, I am going about a week before and play the course a couple of times to get a feel for it.

I am playing in a tournament tomorrow, and I have already played the course twice and laid out my shots and what discs to use for each shot. That is one way to feel more relaxed at a tournament, is to already have played the course and know what discs you want to use and what to expect.

The Birdshot guys were out there at the SW Handicap Mini this past week and we played the 18 hole layout with the Alt tees. Don't hold me to it, but I'm pretty sure that's what we'll play at the "Mash" as well.

If you're making an early trek down from the North side drop me a note and maybe we can hook up for a round and I'll show you the course.

Thanks Eric, I just might do that. Right now I am looking at either June 28 or June 29th to hit that course. I will let you know. I played the tournament at Agnes Moffit yesterday and got 7th place in the Rec. Division. It sure was hot yesterday though.

As far as the heat goes, I was born & raised in Ohio, but strangely I don't find the heat bothering me that much. The biggest effect I've had is the sweat on my hands. My Bogey Free Bag (http://www.discgolfcenter.com/main_displayProductList.php?sn=Bogey%20Free%20Bag) seems to do a good job of taking care of that.

I think I remember hearing about the play off. Congrats on winning. That was a fun tourney. Are you playing in the Mini on July 5th? I can't play in many tournaments because of my work . I work Monday night- Friday night, so I have to take Friday off to play in the Saturday tourneys. Of course being off July 4th, I can hit the tourney on July 5th. I also am going to be playing Kingwood on Aug 9th. I have to play that tournament because that is my home course.

I don't think I will be able to hit that course before the Mini. Its a long drive from Humble, to there. I am thinking about taking the motorcycle down there just to make sure I can find it. I would love to play a round, but jeans and motorcycle boots don't do good on a course in 95 degree weather.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding the park. The directions, address, and first tee lat/lon coordinates on the Mo.City Course Page (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=938) are all correct. When driving down Glenn Lakes Ln you'll go through a lot of stop signs, but after a couple miles you'll be dumped right into the park.

Well, plans have changed. My mother was rushed to the hospital last night with a possible Heart Attack. I am going to spend the weekend to see what the next move is going to be. She can't live alone anymore, she is in really bad shape.

I hope to make the Mini on July 5th, but right now everything is up in the air.
