I added a "Course News & Updates" box to each course page. It's a spot where you can add stuff that doesn't quite belong in course descriptions. Things like "New concrete tees added", "New baskets put in", upcoming work parties, etc.
I noticed a lot of that kind of stuff being added to descriptions which isn't really the spot for it and if it goes without being updated for a while, that new stuff isn't so new anymore. Each news item can be listed for up to 4 weeks (with options for 1 to 3 weeks) at which point it expires from view.
Also, a max of 4 news items can be active for a course at any one time. I doubt there would ever be 4 but if there are and someone REALLY needs to add something before the others expire, they can contact me and I can do it (the error message you get says the same thing).
