Just traded for a first run star cro. I get it and flip it over and it's labeled "(star symbol) SP." Is it possible that it's a spider with a cro stamp? Or was it labeled wrong by Innova?

Innova regularly fails to inform the guys on the line what they are running. They run a new mold and don't tell the guy marking the discs, so he assumes it is an old mold that looks close to it and marks it that way. A bunch of Cro's were marked as Spiders for this reason.

Last year this was posted on the PDGA message board:

Hi Dave,
I got a new Star Cro at Pro Worlds. Thank you. On the bottom with the weight it is marked "SP". Can you please give us an insight on this code? I remember the HOB last year on the Skeeters.

It was an accidental mismark on the very first Cros. About 2000.

The HOB he referred to was the original underside markings on the Skeeters. The disc was going to be called the Hobbit, but some "Lord of the Rings" lawyer put the kibosh on that. The discs had been marked before they were renamed and stamped, so they went out with this mysterious HOB marking.

So, mis marked discs happen all the time. No big thing.

I have a first run cro that I bought used for 6 bucks its my 1 approach disk.

Heh, I just looked at my first run Cro and sure enough, star-SP. I never really paid attention to it! lol

Spider should have a bead, the Cro has no bead.

Is a first run CRO worth much? I see some first run disc going for some big money.
