I'm looking at entering a two day tournament in July, and was wondering if anyone has any advice on surviving through 4 rounds. I just played in a normal 2 round/all day event Saturday, and then slept for 11 hours that night and didn't feel up for doing anything all day Sunday.
So my question for people who have done these before...How do you manage to get out of bed bright and early the next day and keep your focus through 2 more rounds?

It's disc golf, you should be excited to play... how old are you?

Drink lots of water/vitamin water/gatorade during the day. Staying hydrated is more than about just during play (especially in July). Drink a bunch more after play. Take your shoes off in between rounds - and get out of those shoes after the first day's play.
And if you want to be able to get up the next day - S T R E T C H - before you go to bed - and some ibuprofen couldn't hurt either.

24? Oh good grief dude, you should beable to play all weekend, then go home a rock your girlfriends world at 24. Damn, I am 36 and overweight, and I could play two days in a row no problem, then go home and make my wife beg for mercy. Like Eric said, be excited about disc golf. That should get you going.
I would suggest , after the first day, go have a good meal, (leave the booze alone) and go to bed early.

Not spending Saturday night out on the town always helps.
You should have no problem---here in South Carolina 2 days is the norm, and it gets rather warm in the summer---but as you get tired, remind yourself to follow through and keep the bounce in your legs, otherwise your game might fall off.

Another part of having good energy for the weekend, is building up on carbs. Having a nice pasta dinner on Friday night goes a long way.

How many packs a day do you smoke? I have seen some people that carry around little fold up stools- that may help by letting you get off your feet periodically.

I don't smoke, but I'm 6'9" tall, so I tend to get back problems from standing for too long. Mostly I just get muscle soreness.
Sounds like some good advice. To summarize: Load up on carbs the night before, stay hydrated, BEER, stretch, have lots of sex afterward. Thanks guys! ;)

Invest in a stool or portable chair. That way you don't have to stand the whole time. They are a must for tournaments.

What's up with the kid's these days? I'm 34 and agree with midnightbiker. Dude, your 24 you should be able to play/party all weekend. 10yrs older and i can still hang. Maybe helps that i'm not a drinker.

Don't blame me, it's society's fault! They turned me lazy with their violent video games. And for the record, I turn 25 next week...eh, I should just stop now.

I'm fifty, and frankly... listening to young guns talk about being worn out, sore or tired after four rounds is somewhat humorous.
Suck it up.

As someone who has to work graveyard and doesn't have the luxury the one thing I would advise is to get your sleep schedule regular as you can at least a week in advance. If you're groggy because you're awake when your body thinking it should be resting, your muscles are going to feel it come tourney time, particularly on day two.

lol I play at least 4 rounds every single weekend.
I guess it's a little more strenuous when you're good. I still suck so I don't tend to throw my arm out very easily.

the first and most important thing is hydration. when dehydrated your vision will be effected and this will not be pronounced but you will have issues with depth perception. stretching and good food, making sure to eat well the night before a tournament and then eating a hearty meal asap after a round to help rebuild. but the most important thing other that staying hydrated is sleep. sleeping is crucial to being able to preform the next day. take a few Tylenol pm or Advil pm and get some rest, a good nights sleep will give you and advantage. always eat breakfast before playing a round even if that means getting up 30 mins earlier.

also sunscreen if it has not been said. There is nothing worse than being sore from a sunburn to ruin your disc golf day.

I agree 100%.
A few more things to think of:
Bring a large cooler, with more drinks that you think you will need. Also, invest in a stool or chair to carry with you. Also, you might want to get some sort of fold up rain jacket in case it rains. Also, make sure you have plenty of extra clothes if you are going to be staying out of town.
Also pace yourself. Don't try to do to much. Just take your time, and most of all, have fun!

Ok, that was my thought too. I laughed out loud at that one.
