Fairway ace from about 200' with a Roc.

I could see that. If you can get about 400 feet down the fairway and stay along the right side, you've got a pretty good look at the basket. I usually end up along the left if I get any distance off the tee. I can keep it short and right, but that's useless.

Sounds like Cale's deuce on the 400 footer in the Blue Ribbon Pines Clash.

^Is the rest of the course as boring as that hole looks?

HAHA I was thinking the same thing! :hfive:

The link to the course provided (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=4020&mode=ci) would have answered that :hfive:-- it's scenery is worth being out in the open a bit -- the Blue Ridge mountains are panorama'd for many tee shots.
But the course offers a LOT of elevation change that doesn't translate to photographs well enough -- big ups AND downs that will challenge you regardless of obstacles, and they add in they woods and OB water where possible. If you come South for a roadtrip, this is a great break from the tightness of Charlotte/western Carolinas, and you work your wind and elevation game.
Excellent facilities -- private course, and you never forget it - throwing through the orchard/ vineyard, the hospitality, food, bathrooms, etc.

Danger
08-28-2011, 07:47 PM
OK, I can see the appeal. You have redeemed the course :)

Here's an awesome disc golf photo from a few weeks ago.
We (the WNC Disc Golf Club) built a disc golf float for RiverFest (a festival in Asheville for the benefit of the French Broad River).

We would anchor our raft every now and then and let people on other floats, boats, or on the shore throw at it with some Hydras that Innova donated to us. The trip was a lot of fun and great promotion for the sport of disc golf.

No. I was just driving on the road there and thought it might be a nice picture. That's all. That lake is about 550-600 feet wide so I don't think many people would even attempt it. :)

Hornets Nest.
Hole 5 on the Web, there's a drainage tunnel that sits about 40 feet left of the Original layout t-pad. Buddy's drive went at least 10 feet into the tunnel. It was a truly impossible shot. We couldn't even see the disc until we took this pic (with flash). Buddy climbed in for the disc, his feet were 4 feet into the tunnel. He used the camera for a light, so I couldn't take a pic of his shoes (all you could see of him when he was inside). This would also work on a "most amazing thing you've ever seen on the course" thread.

It happened again. Second time in about a week, unbelievable. 17 on the original layout, Hornets Nest. Came up on three guys looking for a disc. One said he thought it was in the tube. I took a pic (tried to attach it but I'm low-tech, not sure if it'll post here or not). The flash showed us the red disc, about 10 feet in. The tube is about 2' in diameter, and it's perpendicular to the tee pad. He sidearmed his drive, off a tree, and into the tube. Amazing.

Took me a minute but I have the perspective now. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I could see #14 to the right, with what... #8 running from right to left? And #4 in the background, etc? I really like that a lot and am going to have to save and downsize it so that I can see it without having to scroll. Thanks for posting!

Re: pix from SC worlds - any captions? I recognized a few of the guys, like avery, doss and mccabe, but who were the rest?

I can figure out the names because I photographed the list of cards, and can piece it together. I should say though that this was my first time shooting live disc golf, and the first tournament I've ever been to, other than my home course. The players were all unfamiliar to me.

To answer your question though, the others so far were Josh Anton (red shirt and white cap,) Derek Billings (red shirt), and the dude with the hat...lol. :)

I'll try to list the names when I do this again.

^^^^^Thanks^^^^^

I took a Nikon D2x with a 10.5mm super wide and mounted it on a small tripod. I connected a wireless remote trigger and set a long depth of field. I wasn't behind the camera but standing off to the side so I wouldn't be in the pic. As groups came up to the tee box I would blast off about 5-10 frames per throw. There are others like this but not where the disc is centered.

I shot this at the Hawk Hollow Open this weekend and my edit has come to 319 images. So I'll be posting a few pics in the Hawk Hollow Image thread (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1050375#post1050375).

At a friends private course, one of three tee's off the top of a hill/cliff. this one has about a 50' drop right off the front, you need to hit a small meadow on the other side of the valley. If you come up short it's a very nasty uphill to the meadow through the forest. from the meadow it's still another 150' to the basket, it's about 350'= to the meadow across the valley. This isn't manicured discing, the forest is rough, there is a ton of hiking.

I was looking at the elevation dips and changes in the forest in the background. You have to imagine that there could be some wonderful holes that could be made up there.

OK, so the picture isn't actually disc golf related... but it was taken while I was at Valley View Park in Altoona, PA a couple of months ago. (I just downloaded a bunch of pictures off of my phone and so I'm going picture crazy on here tonight!)

Anyway... I didn't hear the engines right away, but my 7 year old daughter started yelling to me, "Daddy, look at the plane!" I was surprised to look up and see a WWII era B-17 bomber in the sky above me. It looked much closer in person, but you still get the point. That was pretty awesome!

Dorsey's Knob is a very easy disc golf course that is very difficult physically. You can shoot 10 down no problem but you will need a nap afterwards.
