Recent reviews of my local shorty course got me thinking about what some people consider forehand or lefty holes.

course: http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=4187

I have recently started playing this course with putters only. I forehand putters as upshots, but never driving off the tee. Now there are a few right turning holes on this course, but I can only think of two of them that I would throw forehand rather than backhand. Those two I throw rollers, and recently have gotten good scores on these holes by rolling putters.

So the discussion is, what hole types do you consider forehand or lefty holes? Is it because you can't reach it with a backhand? Are you looking at all the lines? Are you even thinking about skip and how your disc should land.

I understand that you won't be able to see all the lines from the pictures, but I'll add a poll for all 18 holes. Vote for which ones you think are FH holes based solely on the pictures, and tell us why you choose to throw forehand over backhand on some holes or vice versa. That, or holes you wish you had a forehand for.

Thats how I normally throw off the tee, n I didn't see anything that would have made me switch up to backhand. So all of them!!! I wouldn't be just throwin a putter though. lol

Based off the map, I would say 2, 7, 14, and 15. Those holes would favor the forehand or lefthanded players. If I had a decent forehand shot, I would propably use that for these holes. However since I don't, I would just throw an anhyzer shot and try to get it to turn right for me, RHBH. I should develop a forehand shot as I see the advantages it has, however I have been having decent luck with my anny shots and just feel more comfortable with that. If this is the course that you use a putter on, then I would still stick with my backhand and turnover my Voodoo for such shots. I think more courses should have both right and left turning holes as to not to give one type of player an unfair advantage.

really tough to get a good read on the course and lines from the pictures alone, but as a decently proficient LHBH-dominant player none of the holes look like they would present me with a demonstrable advantage over a similarly skilled RHBH player.

I won't comment on which ones are which yet, but there are a 6 main ones that I can come up with that are more backhand friendly holes on this course.

You really need to pick a course with a Course Walkthrough in the links/flies tab. It's way too big of a pain in the ass to look through all the photos and piece together where the baskets are and what lines I'd take.

If you're throwing a putter on every hole I'd say that it pretty much negates the forehand advantage because they're so workable. The only holes on which I realllllly consider a FH to be necessary are low ceiling holes that turn hard right and can't be rolled.

well it took some effort (no thanks to the OP) to go thru all those photos. the course map sux compared to how it actually looks. its a really even course. RHBH has to throw alot of straight to slight turnovers but theres alot of room to work it. i dont vote for any of the holes. both side have an equal advantage

Not sure what else I could have done, You can only post a few number (5?) pictures per post.

Ohwell, your last sentence is what I was looking for. The holes I think favor forehand are 8 and 15, those are the two I throw rollers on.

I get this all the time. I see people throwing FH on a lot of holes and I step up with a beat up aviar and throw a hyzer flip that turns late in the flight and finishes right. Wind affects this shot a whole lot though, so there are times when I will throw a FH on those shorter holes.

Well, since I've never played this course before and it was kinda difficult flipping through those photos....I would say maybe 8 out of the 18. I honestly don't remember which ones I picked. But I do remember 8, 11 and 16 being on the fence as I can easily get a disc to turn over to the pin. I do throw a sidearm a lot though which is why I picked 8 out of 10.

I would have fun on this course going for a lot of ace runs though!

Since almost all of the people from Fairfield, form the new player to the old timer, throw forehand, I would say that almost all of the course favors forehand players. Also, the players from there have said it favors the forehand shot.
