View Full Version : Up/Down keys in scorebook
Someone had suggested this in the giveaway thread (along with all the other great suggestions) and I thought I could get this one working pretty quickly. Took a little longer than I thought but it seems to work well.
You can now use up/down arrows to go through the fields in a column. It will also select the contents of the field. I can remove the selection part of it so the cursor just shows up at the end of the text when you arrow to a field but I thought having it highlight the whole thing might be better.
As far as using left/right to go between fields, I skipped it since if you wanted to use the arrows to get to a certain point in a hole note, etc. it wouldn't work and you'd get bumped to the previous/next field.

Highlighting the whole cell definitely makes more sense than dropping the cursor in at the end; it's only single digit numbers anyway (hopefully!).

Sweet! I wished for it but didn't think to ask. You're awesome.

Cool added functionality. :)

TAB and SHIFT+TAB already easily jump fields right & left.
And speaking of that... TAB works to jump through all the Scorebook fields except the Year field of the date. You can TAB into that field but not out of it. Can that be fixed?

The date is a javascript widget of sorts which actually creates those fields on the fly. I think that contributes to the tabbing problem and I"m not sure how to fix it other than find a new date/calendar widget thing.

Hey... I can TAB through the Year field now. Not sure if that's something you fixed Tim, or if it's a new feature enabled by Firefox 3.5.2, or a recent java update. But either way I'm happy about it. Thanks.
It wasn't anything I did but I'm glad it's working now :)

I guess it always helps to ask. Obviously I wasn't the only one thinking about this in the past, but got used to the way it worked before, but the change makes it easier. Thanks timg, all the small tweaks to the site are sure making it a much smoother experience!
Like others have said, something I wished for but didn't ask about. So thanks!
