What's the hardest hole you've ever played? And what did you score on it?

Hole 3, Deer Sales Park. Tarentum, PA. I took a 6 from the white tee.

Hole 5 at Trace Gold. During a doubles tourney I played there, we had 5 teams on my card (playing pro men) all 10 of us threw OB on our tee shot lol. (there was also a 20 mph left to right wind)

Patapsco Valley State Park hole #7 long to long, a 629-foot double dogleg through increasingly-dense woods, ending with a basket on the edge of a steep dropoff. I have scored everything from 4 to 9 on this hole.

Picture does not convey difficulty. At all.

I was about to post that hole, but I've actually parred it. For me hole 12 at Nevin is tougher. I've never some close to par on that one. It's just too long for me to get there for how wooded the second half is.

I actually think a couple of holes at Renny are tougher than either of those at Nevin. 13 and 18 Gold come to mind. Heck hole 14 at Renny is tough for me. It's rewarding for well executed shots, but punishes mistakes.

hard to say... i played some tough ones in Arkansas but it's hard to pick one out. Swingin DBs has some bitchy ass holes simply because the fairway doesn't exist unless you count the trailer hallway width gap in the trees going from the tee to the basket.

recently i'd have to go with #4 Gold at Leigh Farm. It's one bitch of a 737ft hole because you have to throw 100' in to a 20' gap in the woods. Then once you're in there you have random trees everywhere to throw around for the rest of the 600' odd feet. It wouldn't be that bad if the trees weren't so randomly placed; although the hole can't be that bad because I made par both times I've played it.

I just played Sontag last weekend. There are some brutal holes there. I had back to back 6's on my card on the long round.

Here is the hole info.

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2523&mode=hi

My two 6's were on holes 12 & 13 from the blue tees.

I find it interesting that hole #4 is listed as a par 5 from all 3 tees. It was perhaps my best hole of the tournament. We played 2 rounds fron the whites. I got a three each time by making 60ft+ putts. On the red tee I also got a 3 and I had the opportunity for a 3 from the blue tee but I missed a 70ft putt and ended up with a 4. My playing partners were consistently carding 5's and 6's because the last 300+ feet was a slow turning left to right and backhand shots would fade out into some hard to navigate trees.

Not sure about the hardest hole in General but I think the Hardest hole I have played blind would have to be #5 at Nevin. It is a tight 656 hole with several turns along the way. If you don't play it smart I could see someone easily going into double digits on this one hole. First time I played it I took a 9 because I kept trying to have an amazing shot when all that I should have done was lay up. Once you play the hole and realize it is a 100% placement hole it gets a little easier. Here is the teebox. Basket is a left turn, then up a hill, then a right, then down a hill, then past an angry bear.

Back to the OP, 3 at DL is brutal. I take a 6 almost every time, and a 5 (par) is excellent for me. Since you're shooting downhill off the tee, it's hard to get a lot of distance without a fade at the end. When the pin is tucked up into the trees on the left, it practically puts on another stroke every time. Add to that the fact that it's often extremely muddy, and it's just a beast of a hole.

I'm sure for some more experienced players with excellent control it's not that bad, but I'm not quite there yet.

Stoney Hill hole #16, Diamond layout, stiff headwind. It's a water crossing to an island landing area.....then another water crossing to the green.

At the 2009 Stoney Hill Challenge, with heavy headwinds, guys were taking 12s and 14s and 15s and more. (Oddly, none of the Advanced women took more than a "6" until their tie-breaker. Some gibberish about playing smart, or something).

Drop zone rules have been altered since to soften it a bit, but it's still a potential round-killer.

I actually think a couple of holes at Renny are tougher than either of those at Nevin. 13 and 18 Gold come to mind.

Yeah - I would say 13 on Renny Gold is the hardest....."Cedar Hell". At 974' it is a shortish Par-5: 4 240' throws down an amply wide fairway and you are parked for your tap in 5 (or 3 320' throws for birdie). You just gotta stay on the fairway since the cedars lining almost the entire fairway will almost certainly cost a stroke or 2 if you land in or near them.

But.......it is just so dang easy to run up some high scores on that hole - especially with the prevailing breeze that is always swirling. The bends in the fairway, while not too pronounced, really make the landing zones critical to hit to set up for your next shot.......a masterfully designed hole.

[QUOTE=Elderberen;906254]blue ribboin pines hole 4 cane make or brake your round. 443ft

i was just about to mention this. 400ft of dead straight. if you flex or fade your done for. OB on the left about 10-15ft off the fairway-tree line, thick roung about 10ft in on the right. hitting a 2 on this is a BIG DEAL! a 3 feels like a duece (ive only managed one true 3, others were pride rethrows, in about 6 rounds there).

I was also thinking hole #8 at Plymoth Creek in MN
http://www.playdg.com/courses/?s=MN&c=plymouthcreek&h=8
(pic (http://www.playdg.com/courses/?s=MN&c=plymouthcreek&h=8) doesnt do it justice). from long tee to long pin is 600ft slightly downhill and dog leg right through large trees. but...the entire left side of the fairway has a creek OB. the right side is thick schule and the fairway dips downhill jaunts a lil right uphill then back a lil left down and then opens into a clearing with a 90 degree bend right about 100' with the creek only 3-10ft left of basket (depends on rain amount). and the worst of it all....this is the only old crappy basket left on the course, its rusty and doesnt catch well.

#13 at Roane County. Love the course but HATE this hole. Technically there is a "fairway" straight ahead through the two skinny trees but it has to stay dead straight the whole way & the tee is further back than where the pic was taken. Plus there are limbs that hang down. The lake is about 40 feet down over the bank & all along the right side & long of the pin. The basket is probably 60-70 ft further than where you can see in the pic & there are more trees than openings. The green is slightly sloped & I've had putts hit metal & roll into the lake. I've seen 1 or 2 pars but that's it. Mostly 4 & higher

Hole 17 at kooky noosa challenge in Libby, MT 611 feet with a 200+ foot elevation drop and it plays down an old jeep road that is prolly 30foot alley dog legging to the left the whole way. If you dont end up in the fairway you are totally screwed because it is the thickest stuff ive ever been in the sticks. Ive scored a 3 once but everything was perfect typically average a 6 and have walked out scoring a 9 twice.

I've been trying to rack my brain for the "hardest" hole I've ever played... I know I've played some tough ones, some holes that have left double digits on the card... but I couldn't tell you specifics.

I will have to second hole 8 at Plymouth Creek though, this is my "nemesis" hole, it has given me double digits with multiple circles on the card. My goal is to someday 3 it, I've only 4'd it a couple of times, and I had an opportunity for 3 once, a deep roller up the right side followed by a thumber through the (leafless fall) trees to what I was sure was a parked second shot. But the one time in 5000 throws that Forest decides that he should bring my disc back...

Hole 11 at The Tailings in Iron River MI. Huge downhill with a narrow fairway and if you go in the rough, it's the roughest rough most of you have ever seen. Then , about 350' down, you come to a left dogleg and you've got another 250' to go for a total of 602' I was ecstatic with shooting a 4 here. It could easily be a 6 or worse.

Hole #2 on The Bear at Highbridge (actually, I think it's #3 now, but haven't played it for a few years). Distance is listed as 435', pretty sure it varies more than that depending on the route you choose. No good pics, but here's the tee sign:
http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course_pics/388/8feac11b.jpg

You can probably see that there are 3 distinct routes to the pin -- left, center, and right -- and each poses its own risks (the left I recall being the tightest route with a pinch point shortly off the tee, the right side was slightly uphill initially and played longest and somewhat safest). Every time I played that hole, no matter which fairway I chose I always wished I'd taken a different route. That 450'-500' through winding wooded corridors, with your group more than likely spread out over the 3 routes wondering about the fates of the others, is just as frustrating as a 700' uphill hole into a headwind.

There are a few that stick out as difficult holes, but really once the wind picks up, this would be the hardest hole and I wouldn't play it if it was windy in a casual round. I went with most difficult as how big of a spread is probable in a tourney round. I can see this hole being 4'd, or even 3'd. But also 8+ easy.

I haven't played the blues at deer lakes, but I definitely find 14 way tougher. With 10 recorded rounds I average 5.6 on hole 3 (5p, 4b, 1db) and a 5.9 on hole 14 (5p, 2b, 1db, 1tb). Needless to say, I am happy with a 5 on either hole.

I guess 3 feels much more doable and strokes are added for bad shots, while 14 adds strokes for bad (unlucky?) bounces off of trees.

Interestingly people do not agree with me when it comes to 14 being harder:
Red Tees Average: Hole 3-5.93, Hole 14-5.27
White Tees Average: Hole 3-5.93, Hole 14-5.78
Blue Tees Average: Hole 3-5.21, Hole 14-5.36

I guess I am like alot of other people since I feel that 14 is the easier of the two par 5's. Example on saturday on 14 I hit a fairly early tree and take a 4. On #3 I hit a fairly early tree and take a seven. I always seem to do better on 14 even when I have an errant shot. My average for 3 is 5.33 and my average for 14 is 5 even.

deer lakes 3....1 loooong tunnel that if you stray punishes you with minimal options

deer lakes 14.....a bunch of convoluted routes to the green that if you stray you still have convoluted routes to the basket

3 is a bitch due to its length which forces long straight throws...if u just lay up lay up lay up the length of the fairway still leaves you short...you gotta go big and straight

14 is more a chance to be creative and if you mess up you can still be creative

14 is funner but 3 is definetely more rewarding

I played it once and looking at the basket to tee I saw endless routes on 14...when I looked back on 3 I saw a tunnel with thick woods to the left/right and ABOVE ouch!

But the one time in 5000 throws that Forest decides that he should bring my disc back...That's one of the first ones I thought of, too. The hard part is you have to navigate all of those trees, but you also don't want a disc that fades too much or you'll skip down into the creek. The fairway slopes down to the creek and is hard packed dirt (IIRC) so it doesn't take much to end up down there. If you don't go far enough then it will take you a couple throws to get to the bend and you're pretty much guaranteed to need at least 2 throws once you get there.

Hole 15 of Walnut Ridge in DSM is pretty bad, too. It's a 620' tunnel shot where the left side falls off into a ravine. If you try to stick to the right side of the fairway you'll inevitably hit a tree and kick off straight left and down to the abyss.
