2011 Am Worlds DGCR Meet

I've already arranged to meet a few people that are going to Worlds but if there are a bunch of DGCR members heading there we should setup a meet sometime that week. Anyone interested?

Ill be volunteering Wednesday through Saturday then playing the volunteer tournament at Pinto on Sunday. Im camping at KOA Campground in Santa Cruz, I think there are more spots available if anyone is interested. Bring your tags.................

I was thinking a course not on the world's list, but people may be tired of throwing plastic by then. Lets all go to Sea Breeze and walk around like a gang of old white men :)

I'll be there late Sunday (9pm-10pm)- Driving up that day and hope to play a couple of the courses Monday, probably Basil (I play it twice the same day) & Parma (looks tough). I'm open to meet up.

Of course I'm in! It's a bit of a drive, but Shorewinds is not played in the tourney and is amazing! Otherwise, I'd pick Parma. That course has it all. The trick will be timing it so the most people are available.

Parma is not being played for worlds? I know the Rochester guys in chrage think MCC is amazing, but please, MCC is garbage compared to Parma.

Finals are at MCC. As you know Tim, I'll be a vendor that week (at Parma!) and I've had to work with some of the staff at MCC to supply proof of liability insurance in order to vend at finals on Sat so I'm absolutely certain MCC is on the list but yes, it's weird that it is the finals location. Perhaps this is due to the massive parking lot at MCC...?

On that note, I'm working out some sort of promo/discount fro DGCR members so come see me at Parma. I'll be the guy at the disc table in the VFW hall.

MCC will be used at the finals on Saturday with a temporary set-up. It's going to play around the pond more, and I hear it's pretty amazing.

Parma is absolutely in the Worlds, and will also be using the old hole #1 over the pond! I can't wait to see what everybody thinks of that course.

The baskets are being set into the ground, and the flypads will be staked in. I think they might be left in at night. I believe Thursday(?) the course isn't being used in the later afternoon, and there was some talk of playing casual doubles on it.

I'll get there on the Sunday night prior(7/24) and be leaving Saturday evening(7/30). I think I'll have Ellison & Chilli on Day 1(Tuesday) & Parma on Wed so I'll base the courses I play Monday for some practice on that. Definitely want to get to Parma on Monday from what I've heard & seen in pictures of it. Might also hit Basil because I will play it twice the same day.

For anyone interested GVP is supposed to be in for the entire week prior to the start of Worlds. Also, The Sweden Park DGC in Brockport won't be used. And for anyone interested at getting a locals tips for any of the courses being played (in AM1 div.) shoot me a PM and I'de be happy to play some rounds - I'de say Basil and Parma are the 2 I know best, although I try an play them all regularly.

I looked at the schedule and GV is only used for an 8am round on Thursday and is open after that round completes. I HOPE to be at Basil that day for two rounds - Unless I play like crap and get caught in the shuffle(in that case I'm in that 8am GV group).

I'll probably be playing these two Monday - Don't have schedule worked out yet but may send you a message. Probably Parma around 10am and then Basil in the early afternoon - I've got another player riding with me (from KY) so need to verify.

They're actually talking with the county about making it permanent.

IMO, the park is too crowded with bikers and non-dgers to work. It's location would make it nearly as crowded as Ellison with golfers, and all it would take is a few pedestrians getting a thumber to the dome before it got pulled. I would also worry about the security of the baskets there...

Matt and I might come try the course but I don't think we'll do the league. I know I don't really have the patience for the slow pace of play... especially when I'll no doubt be sweating my ass off :)
