I had to share this with you guys. A local here in Fort Worth TX USA who runs many of our tournaments was on the Price is Right a while back and got Bob Barker talking about Disc Golf. Video Here! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brIWcUSXijI)
I was very happy to meet him replacing one of our signs at Arcadia Park No.2 one day and tried to help out. Man was that ever a job!

I ran across this thread while looking for the oldest "I got my first ace" thread (cause I got my first one today), and I just wanted to say that I met the Maceman Friday, and he's a super cool dude. He was running the bring your own partner dubs at Hornet's Nest and when we finished up we hung out a bit and talked about Christmas tree lights among other things.

Mace = HUGE DB
Video = GREAT exposure for the sport.

the number of courses has doubled from what he said, maybe bob barker helped out a bit.
you will probably have to explain why he is a DB, it seems some peope really like him.

Used to run events in DFW until he started skimming too much of the payout and Rusco and Dynamic Discs took over.
I played a B-tier a few years back with 30 Pros at $75 a piece and got $160 for 3rd. That suck in itself but 1st place was Cale and 2nd was Barry and I beat 8 1000+ rated players ............anyway you are supposed to add $500 on top of entries but the payout was $300 less than the entries.......$800 less then it should have been.
Also a few years ago in OK we were playing poker at Kevin McCoy's and I was petting his German Sheppard for like 5 minutes when he snapped on me and tore up my throwing hand. Mace started making fun of me saying "what were you doing to the dog?" and such and when I left he was petting the dog and also got bit........little justice there.
Basically a lot of people on the DFW hate him and he basically stopped running events although he still has a monopoly on Z-boaz and won'r let any other TDs run events there.
He also owed Gateway A LOT of money when I was sponsored by them and Dave Mac walked up to him after the Worlds flymart in 2006 and took about $800 off of him.

Did you meet him at USDGC?
If so that is when he seems to act like normal human.........in TX he isn't as cool and is also suspended by the PDGA but TDs anyway using his brother's name.

lots of the "big names" in any area end up being dbs in some peoples minds....kind of the nature of the beast. My old roomate, John Dorn, who is responsible for lots of good hot stamp designs over the years; including this year's design for Lemon worlds; put Mace up a number of years when he came through Wisconsin. Got to hang with him a few times. My opinion is neutral; though Z Boaz did break my ankle; for which I hold Mace personally responsible. :)

we had a guy like that running our small town softball tourney. we fired his butt, but it took 7 years to fully get rid of him.
I knew you were a pro, but I didn't know you were that high up on the food chain (I do remember hearing you were sponsored by gateway though)

Na, I just hit him up on Facebook a couple of months back. I talked to him about Z-Boaz a little bit. (Z-Boaz was my first course, and I need to get back there again)

Why does this happen? It is the case around here sometimes with total DBs. Aren't these public parks and don't we all have the same rights to use them?
As far as maceman goes I've only seen him at the 4 USDGCs I've attended and all I can say is that he seems like a friendly enough guy in passing but he annoys the crap out of me when he gets on the mic for the distance exhibition over the lake. Somebody needs to take that thing away from him, as well as choose more appropriate music for the setting.

Some people are able to manipulate the counties and make them think they are the only ones that they should be talking to. This way when you go to these counties for the use of their parks even with money in your hand they turn you down.

Why does this happen? It is the case around here sometimes with total DBs. Aren't these public parks and don't we all have the same rights to use them?It happens all the time. Most people don't get disc golf at all, so they pick one person to be their disc golf "guy." That person then ends up having the power to decide a lot of stuff. If a "guy" in your area is one of those charismatic guys who can smile and say "it's all cool" and have people believe him, they will get away with all sorts of DB stuff for years and years. Once you see through the BS, you will end up wondering how they get away with it.

John thinks it's quite humorous that the Lemon design is referred to as the "farting lemon". :) He asked me where I heard that, and I told him, "that design is called that across the country at this point." :) (He imagines that design as a flying lemon space ship) Why they chose a flying lemon space ship....I don't know....:)

Hope this works; I have enjoyed J.D.'s work; both hot stamp and art in general; for many years...
here's Hornets (http://www.throwingart.com/dgcolor1/index.html?detectflash=false&)
So....I tried to post individual designs for all of the Charlotte courses. They all ended up with this address; which takes you to his site. You can look at his designs for yourself if interested.

dickhead or not, it was still cool for DG to get some national exposure.

Woodman may be more appropriate for disc golf. A difficult boss indeed, as he tends to whack Megaman's fairway drives away.

When we were roommates, Steve Dodge listened to TMBG incessantly, and it hurt my brain.
My 6 year old liked the "Here Comes the ABC's" DVD quite a bit when she was 3-4, and I still do. "Bed, Bed, Bed" is also quite listenable.
