I'm going to be in Yosimite near Curry Village for a week for a friends wedding. I was wondering where the closest disc golf course would be from there. The wedding wont be till friday & there's not too much to do in Yosimite from what i hear so i would'nt mind getting away for a day or so. Also, never played any mid or northern CA courses. Thanks for any info. Tom

Nothing to do in Yosemite???? Dude, you are freaking crazy...Yosemite is the most beautiful National Park that I've ever been to...and I've been to a few...i'm sure the wedding and your trip is already over, but I'd have to say the closest DG course to Yosemite, other than maybe a private one, is Woodward Park, in northern Fresno...$3 entry fee last time I was there a few years back

There are two closer to Yosemite, Hensley Lake and Monument Ridge, both 9 hole courses in the Sierra foothills. You're crazy about there not being anything to do in Yosemite, rent some bikes and see the valley, rent rafts and float down the river looking up at the granite walls and waterfalls, hike on any of the 800+ miles of trail in the park...

You're breaking my heart. If ever there were a time to forget about disc golf for a few days, this is it! Go climb!

Sounds like you guys know a bit about Yosemite. Is there still a lot to do there in the winter months. I'll be out in Cali in February and will be pretty close to the park and was wondering if I should make the drive out there or wait until the warmer months.

There's lots to do there in the winter if you like being outside, and the park is beautiful and not crowded in the off season. They have an awesome outdoor ice skating rink looking up at the granite walls, and all kinds of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The waterfalls are really cool when they're frozen, too.

OMG... I worked as a ranger in Yosemite last summer... I dont use acronyms that often, but... WTF? - Nothing to do in Yosemite? YIKES!
If DG is somthing you're still planning on doing... and you're willing to make a day trip of it... Skip Fresno and head north to the Sacramento area - Tons of great courses up there. If you left early, you could probably get 3 courses in (and a few breweries) and be back that night.
Also, where are you traveling to Yosemite from? Are you flying into Frisco, Sac, Fresno??? If so, hit a course on the way in or out of Yosemite... or both.
It really depends on what you want... a great course or just another CA course. I need more info.
My reccomendation: Drive north through Yosemite on 120... get out to the 99 and hit up Oak Grove Regional Park in Stocton... then play New Hogan Dam... and then loop back south to Yosemite.
(or) Drive over the Tioga Pass and go to Tahoe... this will take you to some of the more spectacular parts of Yosemite (the high country)... Lot's of good stuff there. (A much longer day though... but better golf).
(or) drive north on 120 through the park to Sacramento and hit up Auburn, Grass Valley, Orange Vale, or Rocklin... or all of them.
Either way... PM me or respond to this thread with more info... like where you're flying in... what type of courses you like... etc... Then I could be of more assistance. Assistance for GOLF and things to do in YOSEMITE.
