View Full Version : Dye to water ratios?

I've been reading all week about dying, and I'm :Ddying:D to get started -- I have all the necessary equipment and got a stiffy just from removing the stamps via acetone last night. How beautiful is a clean, untouched, stampless disc?!?!

So now I'm looking at my new collection of Rit, but I don't know how much to use! I bought the liquid Rit, just seemed easier.

Any pointers on best mix ratios? Say, just to get the color on the bottle? If you use too much water, can you just soak the disc longer to negate the weaker mixture?

Thanks in advance,
BennettUA

I use about 1/8 cup of dye to 3 quarts of water. Seems to work ok.

I use half a bottle with enough water to soak the entire disc.

That seems to be an awfully large gap in dye used between your respective techniques. :D

I have noticed the more you use the darker. Well so to speak. I also reheat the water about every 10 min just enough so it steams.
