Starting as a 9 hole course with opportunity for expansion. This course along with the new course in Fairmont park (on the east side of town) should finally give Manhattan some options for Disc Golf. The designers Rick and Mark still need final approval to move forward with installing disc-catchers. Park & Rec Board meeting Monday, July 6th @ 4:30 PM. Disc Golfers are encouraged to attend.

I guess the campus course fiasco from a few months back finally got the ball rolling on getting some actual courses in the city. That's great to hear.

The meeting went well. The Park Board is behind development of a disc golf course here. There is a matching funds program set up and sponsers ready to help fund the purchase of baskets/tee-pads/signage. The next step will be meeting personally with neighborhood residents and sponsers. Will post more on the development when I hear it.

rlangton, that is if Mark or I don't post the next progress report before we tell it to you. Actually, we hear so much each day that the progress reports would be more like a daily diary... anyway...

;) (I couldn't resist)

Regarding not being able to play K-State's on campus object course, I suppose that added a little fuel to the fire but not much for Mark and I.

Rather, for the most part it was only having one 18 hole course within a short distance from the city's core was a bigger motivating factor. We like the Ft. Riley course too, but it's just far enought away it felt like we only had one "local course".

Good Job Ryan, see you at the Sunflower State Games, I can't wait.

Rick

I understand what you're saying, Rick. I'm just happy to see that there is progress being made. As a resident of Kansas for the first 23 years of my life, I know that progress is often-times hard to come by. I look forward to coming back to Manhattan and playing with you guys.

Any progress being made on this? I'd like to play it when I head back to Kansas this summer.

There's also another already newly installed 9 holer in Manhattan at Fairmont Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3735) that was just added to the directory the other day. Don't know much about it at this point.

Scarpfish is on top of things, the course is up and running.

More specifically speaking, we got the baskets installed on Friday, May 7 2010. What a thrill to finally be playing the course with real baskets!

As of today we have very good temporary course markers that will make playing your first round on the course very easy. They are 3' tall bright white tee signs marking where to tee off, plus smaller direction signs to help new player find the next tee area.

We are in the process of getting quotes for permanent tee box signs and concrete pads. The plan is to have those features installed ASAP.

So, come on over to Manhattan's Warner Park to play your first ever rounds on this course. I hope you enjoy our brand new shiny Discraft Chainstar baskets.
