Any thoughts on changing the formula for which swaps are allowed? I know several people mentioned issues this year with people they hadn't met before but weren't allowed to swap because it's limited by tag number. I think Martin dewgarita had that problem a few times. It seems to me it would make sense to just limit swaps by user so that the same two people can't swap multiple times.

Please consider the ability to make a swap if only 1 person hasn't had that number before. It is difficult for those of us not near other members to get much action on completely new tags.

That's how it works now... you can't swap unless one person hasn't had a particular number.

Interesting, for some reason it makes more sense to me the other way. I wouldn't expect to be able to trade with gooddrivebadputt repeatedly just because we play together often, but when I meet up with someone I've never played with hundreds of miles from home and a tag I had 6 swaps ago keeps us from trading it seems odd.

Right now swaps are limited by tag number, once you've had a specific number you can't ever have that number again. I'm proposing that it's limited by who you've traded with rather than tag number. I met up with martin dewgarita earlier this year, and when we tried to swap it turned out that a tag had made it's way between us through a few other people. It was the first time we'd played together is year, and it seemed weird that we wouldn't be able to swap. A few others have posted with the same issue, some having to mail tags back to someone they met up with.

I think cases like that are the exception rather than the norm. Let's say gooddrivebadputt travels a lot on business and comes back with a new tag each time and you got a new tag recently. I think it would make sense for you to be able to swap tags again since you both have 2 new tag #s. I have a feeling situations like that arise far more than the already had a tag # issue.

Or just make it so that you cannot have the exact previous number that you had before your current tag. Say you go from 1 to 2 to 3, you can swap 3 for 1 but not 2.

What is the motivation for these travel tags? Too see who can trade the most times 9well that would be two buddies who happen to play together a lot. Or is it about getting out and playing with as many DGCR members as you can? If this is the reasoning for having these tags then limiting the trades you can make with any person to 1 makes sense. Sure less trades will happen but who needs to see two guys swapping at their weekly mini every week. I suppose it would be limited by the fact that at least one of them must have made another trade before they can swap again, but it still seems silly to be swapping with the same person over and over even if it is for a new #. Just my opinion. I think limiting swaps with any individual to 1 is the way i would go, but it isn't my site and they aren't my tags.

timg, i meet dgcr people on three occasions this year. two of those three i could not swap with people because they had a tag i already had, even though i've never seen them before in my life.

a change of some sort to prevent this would be an improvement.

solution - i believe that life would be easier for you timg to limit trades by the individual (dgcr username), not the number.

you could try it one year and if it doesn't work then you could bring down the admin fist of furry and make a whole new set of rules.

either way, i bet there will be even more 2012 tags than 2011... and there were a LOT of 2011 tags.

Did you implement this already? I just traded tags for one I already had (with a member I'd never played with before), and it went through no problem.

Our route normally takes us through Knoxville, Lexington, Louiville, Indianapolis, Chicago and Madison. I try and get in one round on the drive up and the drive back. My boys will be playing with me while my wife checks out the local community.

We've altered the route in the past to travel through Cincy, St Louis, Nashville, Milwaukee and other cities.

If you check out 2011 map, you can see that Tag 1 ended up in EricJ's hands so I would assume it will be passed along.
