Perkerson Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=2590) looks like it has awesome terrain! But the description says that it's not permanent. It's in my Wish list, so I wonder if it's permanent yet? If not, what does the time table look like?

You might want to PM jdawg24 about it too. He's been doing a lot of the updates for the course so I'd guess he has a good idea of what's going on.

Not perm yet but close is my understanding.
They have been running on Wednesdays and are pretty happy with the placements.

Just saw this topic:) Time table is TBD, potentially this winter.

Perkerson is a prominent city of Atlanta park -- one of the bigger parks in the city -- and there is a lot of red tape in making the course permanent. I can count 6 or 7 levels of approval, each contingent on the level below it and with increasing numbers of eyeballs on the plan. We've been building momentum among the neighborhoods surrounding the park and trying to get the plan perfected before moving to the higher approval levels where our plan will be scrutinized. That said, all of the neighborhoods surrounding the park have voted in favor of the course - so its just a matter of getting the design to work with them! The holes in the open are completely playable as is, so we could literally install 14-16 holes tomorrow given approval and $$.

We've been playing regularly in the park for over a year, and now have a group of ~15-20 regulars who turn out each wednesday @ 5:30 with temporary baskets. About 16 holes are mapped out and don't change much - we've even worn tee areas into the ground from playing so much. Over the fall & winter we'll be running a monthly tournament with a full 18 hole course.

Of this layout - about 14 of these holes will be proposed permanent, with another 7 or 8 proposed in a 10-acre heavily wooded hillside, and potentially another 6 or 7 in a partially wooded/open valley if we can get access to an adjoining 10-acre tract. So it's looking like a 21, 24 or 27 hole course. We want to squeeze a best-of 18 Gold layout from that which will combine some of the holes & be mid-60's par.

The terrain is amazing; the pics don't do it justice. Trying to get some hi-def videos up on youtube soon. Hit me up if you're ever in Atlanta - I'll try to keep our events calendar current, especially once the fall events get scheduled.

Come check out the course this fall/winter -- we're setting it up monthly for 1-day, non-sanctioned, 2-round tourneys on the 2nd sunday of each month nov 2008 - mar 2009. this is the only time the course will be setup between now & march 2009; unless it's permanent before then (unlikely).

i'll keep the info posted on the course page.

2 sets of teepads & rotating pin positions on 18 holes
short tees ... par 62 ... 5,700 - 6,400'
long tees ..... par 62 ... 7,100 - 7,750

This is one of my favorite courses and since the first time I played it (a couple months ago) I have not missed a wednesday night. If you can, you should come check it out!
