Since the 2011 meet, RUSSELL, Hipster and I have played a couple rounds of golf. Both times next years meet was discussed.
Where and when are a long way from being decided, but it's never too early to start talking about it.
If we have it in SW Ohio the three of us agreed two of the courses would be Lincoln Ridge and Mt Airy. The 3rd course is not that easy of a choice. We all agreed Idlewild might be too much of a course to use for such a casual group. It would take 4+ hours to play those 24 holes. Something to think about, doesn't mean we can't play there either.
There's a lot of time to decide where we'll meet next year. Today Hipster and I agreed we'd host it if it was in this area, I would think RUSSELL would help but am not speaking for him.
September turned out to be good for weather this year.

I like the idea of playing Lincoln Ridge and Mt Airy and agree the third course is not as easy to pick. For the third course, I would chose between Monroe, Cabin Creek, or Gulley to play on the last day since all are north of town as most players would be heading that way.
These pretzels are making me thirsty.

Hey guys, thanks for starting this idea.
My ideas:
!. Mt Airy and Lincoln Ridge. Yes.
2. How can we have guests here and not share Idlewild with them? Really?
(Yes I know it's a long course and it always beats me up. But it is a 4.78!!! and is a Beautiful course.) (We can play short tees and IdleMild rules.)
Maybe Fred will show up.
3. I can help too...
4. How about the Ohio 2012 DGCR Spring Meet. March, April, May? This would still allow us to enjoy some other Ohio courses in the fall...
5. I may have a chance to win the DFL disc. lol

I haven't played Portage yet but that sounds good. I would have to get my ass in shape for Arboretum-Spiker and Deis in the same day.

We will vote on where for sure.
Last year I suggested Buck Creek just east of Dayton and pick another one close. I believe Handyman is close enough, that's similar to Idlewild. Buck Creek has camping and cottages. The course is pretty cool (except the tees need work) and has a great view of the lake.
I have never played any Ohio courses north of Columbus, so that would be cool too.

Moose, I haven't played up there that much. I have never played the private course but if it's the one I heard about I know the owner. Him and quite a few others from that area, who I hear are still playing, were always at the tournaments "back in the day". A great group of people and a lot of fun.
The 2 courses we played at the meet, Gordon Holton and The Players, were great courses. I didn't get to play the Hambrick course this year but I did play it all the time when it was first installed and really liked it.

Any chance/thoughts of both meets?
September - Ohio's Annual DHCR Meet (For Family and Friends of DGCR) and:
March/April/May? - Ohio's 1st Annual Spring Fling!!! (For ALL Disc Chuckers)
We could get some local clubs to do some sponsorship...Maybe some local shops for prizes and advertisements and use FB and DGCR for postings...

Hell yeah! There's no rule that says we can only do it once a year.
But we discussed the "annual" thing in the last thread and decided the word "annual" shouldn't be added until the 2nd year the event occurs. :) We could call it the Ohio 2012 DGCR Spring Fling!

Chuck Custer is the guys name that owns the Twilight Zone. I haven't been out there yet, but I've heard great things. I believe he also helped at Hoover and at Flat Rocks out in Lancaster. The baskets from Griggs actually came from Big Run and as far as I and many others are concerned they should be put back there. Griggs is awful and now they are about to cut down nearly every tree on the course due to Emerald Ash Borer
I can't believe you freaks are already talking about another meet, lol. Wherever it is, you know I'll be there, tent condo and all. I like the idea of Lincoln Ridge and Mount Airy, but it might be difficult for some of the the northern Ohio crowd to make it down. Like I said, wherever I'll be there and can definitely help get things together.

I was guessing, it had to be one of the two. :)

As long as I've got the time off work, I'll be anywhere in the state :D

i don't know who is taking charge of it, but i will say that you can't go wrong by asking roadtrip if she can lead the fight. she kicked arse at organization which is something that i would get too stressed out to do myself.

Not sure about everyone else, but I was planning on doing another fall event for sure. I will probably do it the same way we did last years, have some options to choose from geographically, probably Cincy, Canton, Dayton, maybe a couple of others and go from there. I would like to have it in September again, but this time shoot for the beginning to middle of the month. I plan on starting polls, threads, and just general planning right after the Battle for the Border meet.

I'll help as much as I can if the votes point to the Cincy area. I know all the people involved in the best courses in the area and I'm sure they'd love having the visitors here.
Not speaking for anyone else but others in this area have said they would help also. If that's what's decided.

Would a half hour be too far for people to drive between courses? I've got an idea for a Northern OH location, camping at one course and 2 better courses a half hour away in opposite directions.

i don't think half hour is too far. however, with the trip to anna arbor, i'm really hoping it's down here this time...

To me that makes sense. I'm smack dab in the middle of nearly everything so the drive doesn't really matter as much to me as some people, but the Cincy courses would be great to hit.
Just in case and for future reference for myself, what are the best camping options in that area? What would be best for a group like ours? I did a little checking around last summer for a trip for Jimi, Geoff, and myself, but we never ended up making that trip.

Add me to the list of Cincy folks that would be willing to help out in some capacity should the meet come down this way.

Depending on what I've got going on at the time, I might join the festivities. Never got to play Mt Airey when I went visited that area... I opted for the opportunity to play Cabin Creek. But Lincoln Ride was wonderful, and Idlewild's freakin' Idlewild.
And to JayDub's point in the OP: Might be a bit too much and too massive for this sort of thing:
What about seeing if the folks at Cabin Creek would open it up for a day? That's a fun course that I'm betting not that many have played. Might even be in good shape if they've recently hosted a Labor Day tourney.

Cabin Creek would be a great choice and I know Midge and Bill would love to host the group. Other courses close are Oxford and Caesar Creeks new 18 holes. There's camping and a lodge there.
