Any one know if these work or others that do?
I know of all the options for led's and tap lights, but I am looking for permanent solar powered lights for my course.

Cool looking but at 30 bucks a pop that'll add up quick. 540 for a set of 18.

Looks like you could find something on amazon for a little cheaper.

I was brainstorming this a few nights ago.. For a public course it needs to be extremely vandal resistant.

I would want a metal clamshell solar light that locks on to the pole and can be turned on/off with a key. You may have to drill an extra hole through the pole.. I highly doubt there is anything that exists right now that would meet this need, although maybe an existing clamshell design is out there. Then you could use a Yakima lock cylinder along with the guts and the solar panel from an existing light... Wish I had more time on my hands because I think there is a legitimate business case for this product.

Would gladly give you some kind of deal on these chucky...

truth be told is that you can probably do better on your own somehow...

This is an idea I thought would take off (many years ago). A) Vandalism ( have played an "unknown course" with these and even there; the lights were not maintained and/or had been vandalized). B) Maintenance (Batteries must be periodically installed). C) Cost (I thought the top caged lights offered by at least one; if not two (sorry, off hand I don't know which companies; I believe DGA is one) of the major basket manufactures has offered the light assembly with cage for the top). D) Parks and police do not want peole playing after dark (this is probably the largest reason by far....)

It's a cool idea. My friends and I just get the glow bracelets from Jo Ann Fabrics and play a round when it's still light out and put them on the baskets for our glow rounds and it works very well. We go back the next day and remove them as to not litter up the course.

^^^This works better than permanent lights...and is much more unobtrusive to the authorities.

So long as they follow through on the last part. Too often around here the trash gets left there for days.

My course is on a private campground and we want to encourage night golf
as an activity and as a perk for our local season pass holders.
I'd like lights that automatically turn on at dusk and last at least 2-3 hrs.
I gonna try some solar garden lights and those hanging basket cages
Hopefully we get the course lit up before daylight savings time!
We have been using rechargable l.e.d. lanterns and they work great,
but setting them up and taking them down means only doing it once in a while.

Small solar lights can often be found at target/walmart/fleet farm/Kmart/Walgreens if I shop around I can usually find some on sale for <$1 apiece, grab the 30 they have in stock and bam, for $30 I have enough to light the course "semi permanent" . It averages about 1 light per week is stolen/damaged, good thing there's plenty of backups.
