Who doesn't love a nice broom to sweep a teepad?

Our club did the fundraising, and the park (Independence Lake (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3096)) installed the clips and brooms out on the course. Everything went in a few weeks ago. So far, so good..

Flip City has em at every tee, and a public park - Rolling Hills put them out this summer. Based on the success of Rolling Hills our club decided to try it out at Indy.

We were/are worried about theft and vandalism, but the higher gate fee tends to keep the chuckers away. We are going to see how these brooms fare over the course of a full year though. They are not too expensive to replace though, just don't want to be replacing them all the time. Bonus: they are made in the USA!

It's pretty nice to have these out. Where has this been done before on other courses?

PM me on here and I'll give you more info if you want to do this at your local course, the brooms came out to $6 each and the clips were about $1 each, so 18 holes ended up at around $150 with tax.

I've seen this before, it's especially useful on rubber tees.

I have a couple buddies that carry a broom in there bag. Always a plus to have them on your card.

Currently we are having an issue keeping the baskets in the ground, brooms wouldnt stand a chance here.

I've seen it work great at private and pay to play courses, and I've seen them disappear or get broken within a week at busy public courses.

There's a local course thats found opportunity in another option.

in the form of non-native invasive Scotch Broom. (green shrub that grows fast, yellow flowers in spring, and one of the usual roadside nuisance shrub species that you can't get rid of.)

From hearsay, there's the principle on this newly installed course that scotch broom anywhere, anytime, can be removed by players during casual rounds and work parties. They've taken to placing a few bundles of it near teepads...yupp, you guessed it... to use as its name implies as a broom.

If you bend and snap it off at ground level it comes back quickly, and if you try and rip it out, it usually comes back too, so they're going to have plenty of broom for use for a long time.

spring valley, our local pay to play DG course/ball golf course just put brooms on every teepad and i LOVE it. stuff on the teebox can distract me for some reason, maybe im worried about falling or something i dont know, but i think it is a great idea.

at my college course, there were a couple brooms by the teepads that get dirty. When students moved back in, they all disappeared though....maybe they will turn up after the move-out.

I know that there are brooms on quite a few holes at Moraine State Park (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=126). Very nice on the rubber pads in the woods that get covered with leaves.

I've seen them at Alexander Park in GA, but some of them have been broken, and once, some a$$hat decided it would be funny to throw one into a nearby tree...it's a great idea, but chuckers will never learn.

Flyboy has them. Seems like they would easily be stolen on a public course unless you tethered them to the tree or sign.

Sandy Point Disc Golf Ranch in Lac du Flambeau, Wi. has them on all 24. Great destination.

There is a broom on hole #16 at North Port Charlotte. This is the only broom I've ever seen at any Florida course. It's a nice amenity but it's on a hole that doesn't get dirty.

Yea flyboy has them. It is super nice when it plays through the woods and you can sweep the teebox. I wished more courses had them but it would be hard to keep them from getting stolen.

We have brooms throughout the course at Jefferson Barracks in STL. They have them at the Dollar Tree for, you guessed it, $1/each. I modify them all by cutting about 12 inches off and Gorilla gluing all of the handles back on them. The shorter length makes them pointless for any of the apartment complex dwellers to think about stealing, but it does happen ocassionally anyway. It also makes it so that the people using them don't get too aggressive and bend the flimsy handles in half. All of the benches have spring loaded broom clips screwed on the underside. Once the brooms are modified, they hide very nicely up underneath. It still doesn't deter all theft, but for $1/each, buying replacements really isn't that big of a deal.

Flyboy does have them, but Flyboy has pretty much amenity short of water fountains on every hole.
I've played numerous courses with brooms, and it is very helpful. In my experience, high-traffic public courses will put them out, and they will all eventually get stolen or broken. Of course, there's an asshat around here that steals signs too. It's nice to have the brooms for the wet leaves we get a lot of down here. I've used the broom at the tees to sweep sand/dirt over the frost and ice too. I hate when 75% of the handle is broken off, but the bristle section is still there. I always want to use it, but it kills my back to hunch over to sweep, and ruins my drive.

They're even nicer when the awesome owner of an awesome private course insists on sweeping every tee for the group.

I played Indy for the first time on Saturday and really enjoyed the course. I didn't have to use the brooms, but it was nice that they were there. They wouldn't last long at my home course in Cali. Too many dopes.

One way to prevent (or at least decrease) broom theft is to have them at the local pro shop - check 'em out when you start, check 'em back in when you're done with your round.

Doesn't help if you don't have a pro shop, but if you do it seems to work just fine. I think that's how they do it @ Huntington Beach (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=415) ...
