View Full Version : Anybody know about the Scarboro Scorcher in MD? (or other mid-atlantic events)

I'm based in NJ, but I have a friend in the MD area. I found this tourney on the mid-atlantic website, and depending on my friend's schedule, it's possible that I could make this one.
How much does it cost? Will it have rec/novice divisions? Where is the basic info on this other than the date and location?
I'm brand new to the sport and looking for a good first tournament, if it will have some lower divisions available. Bonus points if it also has a rec female division that will have more than 1 or 2 entries. I could potentially be willing to go anywhere in NJ, eastern PA, DE, MD, southern NY.

I was just talking to the guys running this the other day. I believe its $20 (add $10 if not PDGA member) for Intermediate Am plus you get a disc and probably lunch. Most events in MD don't offer divisions below Intermediate Am and pretty much is the Rec/Novice division. Im sure there will be a female division, but theres not many females that play so its almost always one division of 4-6 women.

Check out Llamapalooza 2009, sponsored by Gorilla Boy, and hosted by the Boulder Woods Country Club Fighting Llamas at Gifford Pinchot State Park just North of York PA.
Depending on where you are at in MD it is not that far. There is also camping available at the park should one so desire.
Saturday August 15th, registration is from 8:00am to 9:00am
There will be a Rec division, and there will be multiple woman's divisions - ladies love the Llamas!

You're correct on the price.
You can register day of as long as it does not fill. Something I forgot to put in my last post, 72 players max. I don't expect this event to fill though. Pre reg should be up soon on the PDGA website. You can check who's registered there once that's up and running. I'll let everyone know...

That's a roc pictured. We'll also have destroyers and wraiths available in assorted weights.
Don't try and convince your friend to play... TELL him he's gonna play. ;)

We are being told that all county parks are being shut down, so we will reluctantly have to postpone the Scorcher. We have not settled on a date as of yet but will let you know as soon as possible. Thank you for being patient and understanding.
If you can not make the reschedule date, you will get a refund for your entry fee if you notify us beforehand.
Thanks again,
