giles run is best in northern virginia and close to 95, bryan park in richmond is highly regarded and very close to 95, the grange and loriella in spotsylvania are both good and not far from the interstate either. if you have better part of a day to kill go to the grange- 2 full size courses and 1 par 2 course on the same site.

I've heard about the Grange for years and have always wanted to check it out. Reading the reviews, I was disappointed to see that dogs are not welcome. I will be traveling with my girl and our two boxers so I will have to save Spotsty for my next road trip I guess.

Giles had some great reviews because it sounds right up my alley personally. Def sounds like the type of course I like. But the thorns/brambles/ticks may not be ideal considering who I will be traveling with. Its so close to 95 tho so I'm sure I'll check it out, maybe on the way back to PA.

Bryan sounds like a perfect stop for us and I look forward to playing it. I definately want to stop there on my way down. Its about midway to Raleigh so it would be perfect time to stop for a few hours in the early afternoon.

Giles has extended walks with little shade and no restooms or water on site. It can be brutal in August. There is a Burger King, gas station and a small store one quarter mile from the park (between I-95 and the park entrance) Course was mowed Monday (7/27) and there are more blackberries than you could ever pick for the next several weeks.

Bluemont is not as easy to access as Giles but there are restrooms, water (by the pavillion across the creek) and lots of shade. Calvert in College Park MD would be another good option considering your travel companions.

bluemont is as good as any 9 hole course anywhere.

I was a little confused about Loriella...its a seperate course from the Grange right? I knew the grange had a few different courses and I guess I thought Loriella was maybe the name of one of them. The reviews of Loriella sound nice, I might have to make a stop in spotsy after all

just checked out reviews on bluemont. I used to live in arlington so it would be cool to stop back and play this nice 9 holer. I didnt play disc golf when I lived there, I started playing in 2005 when I moved from VA to PA. Day one of my voyage I might hit bluemont first, then shoot down to richmond to play Bryan. Day two... head down and play Rocky Mount NC before I head into Raleigh for the night. When I leave Raleigh to head back to PA, probably head to Loriella first and maybe one more course in Northern VA or Maryland. Druid sounds nice

Pine Grove - good holes, difficult to naviagte (print map/notes), never crowded

Druid - 27 holes (9 X-holes in woods can be a bit difficult to find), need to drive on some city streets to reach it, good course

Rockburn - one of my favourites, great variety and challenges, closest to I95

Calvert - flat and on the short side, very large trees so somewhat shaded, solid
