Hi gang, I need a disc that is good for skipping, especially mid range (about 100 to 200 feet). I do not favor any brand only results. So lets here your thoughts.

Whippet is an awesome skip disc, especially in CE plastic.

The drone is a helluva skipper. I just prefer powering down on a flick though, or fast driver like a wraith.

if its a skipping mid you desire, the flx drone is a great choice. Q sentinels and gators arent bad options either.

CE firebird...

another vote for drone.
Anything extremely overstable will skip nicely.
nuke OS
Ape
Xcaliber
With the nuke OS I have had monsterous skips. I can't throw this thing more than 200 feet. It just meat hooks to dang hard...but that is why it is in my bag.
EDIT: I also think i may be generous with the 200 foot distance. It may actually be more like 170

I almost hate to say it, but a groove will skip like a mother****er.
Plus you can pick them up dirt cheap. :D
Plus, they almost never go past the range you're looking for. :D

Beadless Gator in star plastic or a DX Whippet.

No one has said predator yet?!? I usually use my drone for shorter skips but if I want a BIG skip I'll throw the z pred left, right, forehand, backhand, it doesn't matter if I release it flat I know there's a huge skip in store.

Latitude 64 xxx skips quite a bit and is super stable. Or a discraft flick. That works good too.

I throw my nuke os... Skips BIG every time
pretty much any of the discs listed will work but will require different throws
i.e. powered down with good touch and control on something high speed
pretty much close to decent power on a Champ Whippet
if I'm looking for skip shots in that range I use a CE EXP 1
so I'll throw out Banshee
might be easier to control than the high speed stuff for that shot range
I think good choices would be (in no order):
Drone
Gator
Whippet
Banshee/EXP1
Pred
Firebird
Gateway Demon

For that range a Whippet would be my choice assuming you want a bender (turning skip). All of the discs mentioned so far will work, I prefer sharper edged discs for skipping but anything can be made to hop.

I throw skip shots with everything in my bag depending on what shape shot I need. Spend some time trying out fh and bh skip shots with everything from your putters to your drivers and figure out which discs skip forward/sideways/up.

Generally the most overstable discs of any brand are the best skippers. So look at those. Teerex, XCal, Monster, Firebird, Banshee, Whippet, Gator, XXX, Force, Pred, Spirit, in no order.
One thing to note is that powering down on a driver is the best way to get a skip. My wife does some cool stuff with a banshee.

Love some skip shots...I'm a skippin' muthaforya!! All are good suggestions and all disc's skip...here are my preferences:
1. little skip (when you need the putter to move forward) - ROC
2. better skip a little further out - Teebird
3. massive skips at any distance - Star Max

I use either a whippet, nuke os, banshee, monster or firebird. Kinda depends on the shot for which one I would use. My friend has a pd2 that skips really well also. Seems to me everything listed so for by people skips well but I think drivers will skip better than mids. When I have my xxx in my bag I would use that. Too much snow on the ground right now here for skipping though. Once it freezes hard we should be getting some huge skips

Mid range, Drone.
Great approach sidearm disc too. I think it is valuable to carry discs with multiple uses. I put a Drone in my bag because it handles sidearm's with snap really well. I can flick my buzzz's but sometimes I lose them left on longer throws. This doesnt happen often with a drone. And you can get them to flare!

I consider a Star/Champ Whippet the best in that distance range with Monster, Banshee & Firebird also good choices. Another disc that is excellent and can be used at that range is a Star Max.

Depending on the terrain a mid will have a less-predictable skip.

Champ monster or elite z flick works for me

Long - Nuke OS or Flash (Nuke OS works great for skipping around corners at all distances)
Mid - Drone
Short - Dart

Wow You guys have been a tremendous help on 2 fronts. 1) Great info. 2) I can now go and try (and buy)some discs I have never tried before. Something I have always enjoyed.
I think the drone and gator will be first and then HMMMM!:clap:

I use a Gator and I usually depend on it to dig in and stick, not skip. It's an excellent disc for what it does but I'm not sure about it's skipping ability.

Thanks zen. The drone seems to have been an overwhelming favorite here so that is why I picked it to start with. The Gator was more of an excuse to get a disc I have been wanting to try:).
I have a lot of discs but only 2 of any of those mentioned in this thread. This should be fun.

I have a friend that swears by the firebird. May have to try that one also. Don't tell him though because he will just gloat.

Powered down XXX, Predator, Firebird, or Flick are all great choices. A friend uses a Flick and it skips for days.
