View Full Version : Virginia Beach Next Week
Hey there everyone. I'm planning on hitting some course while my family and in-laws are at Virginia Beach. I figured that I'd hit Bayville just because it's so close. And I really want to spend some time on the bay bridge/tunnel so I figure I'll go and play Indiantown even though the ratings aren't that great. It will be my excuse for paying the cash to go over the bay a couple of times.
Does anyone have any specific recommendations on the other courses near Virginia Beach? I don't want to travel more than about 45 minutes from the beach front area and I won't have any real time to stop along the route down I95, etc. as we're kind of on a strict driving schedule.
I'd appreciate any input.
I hate to post the first reply to my own thread. But here I go anyway.
I was just checking out the pictures for Bayville and it's so weird, being from WV and playing mainly courses in WV and PA, to see all of the totally flat holes. That's just weird to me. So it could be interesting.

new quarter in williamsburg is the best in tidewater by far. depending on where you are at va beach it could be stretching your 45 minute limit though.

After checking out the review and pics, I think I'll throw my 45 minute limit out the window. Sounds like a plan. Thanks much for the recommendation.

Just replying to see if anyone else has any opinions on VA Beach disc golf.
Thanks!

You might want to try Munden Point. I played a couple of rounds with swellerdiscgolf and he knows the area real well. His home course is Bayville. According to him Munden is good place to play. Its on our agenda for our next round together.
Piece of advise. Bennets Creek is near by and is short but technical. With the rain it will be swampy and the skeeters will carry you away. So avoid it. Great in the winter though.
If you can do it take biscoe's advise and play New Quarter.

Thanks man. More useful insider information that I couldn't get anywhere else.

second best course down there is ace run ranch in suffolk (private- has a hole with a man-made island green), followed by (imo) newport news, bayville, bennett's and munden. munden has one super cool hole and the rest is pedestrian.
Got to play two courses while visiting VA Beach. I played the two that were the closest to where we were staying: Bayville and Munden Point.
On Friday, at Bayville, the course was pretty busy. I was very fortunate to get to play 18 holes of doubles with three locals: Sean, Dez and Wes, from the the long tees to the long pins. I got teamed with Sean, who had been the one to invite me to play. I had never played doubles before and they were all very kind to show me around. They were all three better than I am and I was glad that I played pretty well. My drives and putts were OK but my approach game was on. In the end, Sean and I finished up two holes. I just wanted to send a shout out to the guys in case they end up on here and to say what a good bunch of guys the Bayville regulars seem to be.
On Saturday I hit Munden Point. I was the only player on the course until after I finished when I saw a group of six just starting their round. I played 18 from the short tees to the short pins and 18 from the long tees to the long pins. It was a huge contrast to the day before at Bayville. And the Signature #8 got one of my Champon Valkyries. Ouch! But it was my own bone-headed mistake. Not only did I make a bad throw, but I didn't even pull out my floating Dragon on the hole. Duh! Live and learn.
I really enjoyed both courses and will review them both soon. My family is planning on heading back to VA Beach again and I'm definitely looking forward to hitting more of the "local" courses.

When you do let me know I will try to show you around. Especially if you want to play Newport News or New Quarter.
