How many here do some stretching before playing a game?
Care to give some tips on some good stretching before hitting a round of eighteen?
Thanks!

LOL!

The only thing I do is trunk twists with both arms fully extended and try to stretch the x-step movement. I do it slowly at first, so I don't pull anything. I am supposedly an old guy, but I have a feeling that is good thing no matter what your age. All this really does is allow me to be smooth on my first throw instead of feeling tight.

I do however, do multiple shoulder and arm exercises in the gym that do work the backhand and forearm movements. But heck, I don't throw very far. So take that for what it's worth.

Neck roll and back roll are good to loosen up the spine. Also I've been hearing more and more from trainers and people with trainers that you want to be careful not to over stretch. If your tendons get too loose they don't hold the joints as strongly leading to turned ankles nd blown out knees. And for all of you that don't stretch cuz you don't need to, come talk to me when you hit 40 and see if you don't wish you had stretched more. (Us old folk gotta stick together donovan.) :)

I don't stretch, but if I play right after I wake up I need to shower. It helps me loosen up my body before I start to play. Otherwise if I don't and just go out there my muscles are just too stiff. I surely can't be the only one who does this, can I?

I find that stretching helps. I have played a lot of my best rounds when I had Ultimate games in the morning and then went out and played disc golf in the afternoon -- all the muscles are loose from stretching and running, and the whole body, brain, etc... is all amped up and ready to go.

For tournaments, I usually spend more time stretching than practicing throws morning of. I'll throw a couple of drives and a couple of putts of course, but for me, getting the body awake, the muscles stretched and the blood flowing does more to improve my score than forcing my sore/achy/tight/just-woken-up body to huck stacks of drives across a field.

I say all that, and I'm 30. A lot of the older players I know that have maintained the same level of disc golf performance for 20+ years are guys who do yoga to help maintain core strength and flexibility. I don't do yoga myself, but I've been thinking about it as a way to preemptively help prolong my chances at playing competitively long-term.

I don't stretch much... I hold my arms out and twist/stretch then throw a few times using a towel (holding on to it the whole time) instead of a disc... hold both ends of the towel and stretch out my back... then I throw 2 drives on the first tee box instead of one...
