Here's a link to some different grips:

I use the 3 finger power grip( last grip before forehand) on my mid ranges. The regular power grip just doesn't feel right for me on the small rims. I would try several different grips and see which you like best.

On the same site above I use 2 grips mentioned for mid range shots.
For longer ones, (100-200ft) I use the Three-Finger Power/Accuracy Grip, but I actually place my finger on the rim of the disc for better control.
Anything 100 ft or less I use the Fan Grip – Finger along rim. I dont get a lot of power with this grip, but I have gotten very good at parking upshots with it, definately the strongest part of my game.
Another thing I do is I do not run-up/step into my midrange shots unless I need to do so to reach the basket. Any shot that is short enough, I throw from the standing position. This removes some of the variables from the equation in my opinion.

I use a power grip for all my midrange shots and all putter shots over 200'. As long as you're doing it right it shouldn't feel uncomfortable and it will have a lot more distance and many times control potential than other grips. If you want to know how to do it right, check this out:
