Do you need to be a Mile High or PDGA member to sign up?

No on the Mile High member. Yes* on the PDGA. You can sign up for the tournament and pay a temp fee of $10 if you are not a PDGA member.

As a PDGA member you can avoid that fee. As a Mile High Member you can play in tag matches. They have one weekly at Red Rocks and Birds Nest. This is on top of supporting the club and all.

Think I'm going to have to play in this one. Which division are you entering Cam?

I am going to sign up for this tournament, but not sure which division I should enter. It's been about 12 years since I've played in a formal tournament, and I'm just not sure where I fit in right now. I usually score anywhere from -4 to even at these courses. I just don't want to deal with being called a 'sandbagger', nor do I want to get my butt handed to me. Any thoughts from others that play in the tournies around here regularly?

Intermediate is probably around the right place for you I imagine. You can view past scores on PDGA for this tournament last year. See what you usually scored based on the scores from last year.

I signed up for Rec because I suck.... I shoot anywhere from even to plus 4 at these courses normally.

I just registered, but saw on mile high disc golf's site that there's not many openings left for the amateur divisions. If anyone else wants to play in this tourny, you should sign up today.

I am playing in the intermediate division to see where I stand, and will move up to advanced for my next tourny if I am near the leaders in this field. Really just getting my feet wet with formal tournaments again, and don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

I looked at the results form last years tournament to compare my scores to, and if I play up to my abilities, I should have a decent chance to win the division. We'll see how it goes...

I'm going to try to hit j-bobs up as much as possible before this tourny. Hopefully 3-4 times a week. Hit me up if you're going to catch a round there. My schedule is flexible in the afternoons most days.

I struggle more at j-bobs than I do at birds nest, so really trying to focus on getting better at the tight short holes there. My goal is to keep myself within a few strokes after the rounds at j-bobs, because I'll probably have a distance advantage over most at birds nest.

Yeah I think I am going to park at holes 3, 7, 8 and 17 and Johnny to work on those. Bird's nest is usually good to me. As long as I play solid there is not as many bad lines you can take at that course. Just don't end up in the Rock Circles OB. I talked to John Bird on Sunday and he assured me that there will be some surprises for the JRM. I am trying to play both courses as much as possible. Hit me up if you are planning to go.

Was hole 12 at b-nest still in the crazy deep position in the corner? I've got to work on a high flex shot for that pin location because my normal distance shot has no where near enough height to make it over those trees in the middle of the fairway.

Camgolfer

Yeah I wonder if they were keeping that long or not. We played Sunday and it did not bode well for me. I had a good first shot slightly past the trees, but I botched my upshot about 75ft in front of me and threw a too deep third shot. I have done better on this long position than Saturday but nothing too impressive. John was also talking about adding some new holes to the course permanently. He mentioned signs for the holes and concrete for holes 19-24. We played a new hole he is working on and gave our feedback. It was short but fun. They also are probably going to put some fun holes in at Johnny. Maybe 7 super long or the original hole #9.

I'd love it if 7 at johnny was in the long position... easier to avoid going in the drink. 9 probably should be changed from it's current setting for a tourny, just a silly shot right now. Any idea if they're playing the 2 meter rule at johnny for this event, and sidewalks OB?

Camgolfer
08-26-2009, 06:34 PM
I imagine they will play the two meter rule, sidewalks road, water all OB. The drainage concrete on hole 14 is not OB usually. Old 9 as its called plays more along the creek. I think I have only played this once a few years ago before it was changed.

Played J-bobs today and the holes were all in their positions for round 1 except hole 6 which hand't been moved yet. Definitely some different shots I'll have to work on tomorrow. They also decided to aerate the grass so there's millions of little dirt turds covering the course. The tees were an absolute mess. I hope they get them cleaned up by tourney time.
