Who is willing to participate in an ice bowl at Hudson Springs or Mulligan Springs?

What level are you willing to participate at?

Would you be willing to sponsor or know someone who would sponsor a hole for $75 or so?

Any input is welcome.

I'd consider it (rec/novice). If you haven't yet, post this thread at ohiodiscgolf.org to see a more ohio response.

I'd be up for that. When you say "sponsor a hole", what does hat entail?

I vote for Hudson Springs instead of Mulligan.

If the date lined up with a trip to visit family in Ohio, I'd probably play.

If it helps... a course map (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course_files/1590/8c148cd8.jpg) for Mulligan Springs (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=1590&mode=ci) has been created and posted.

My thought with sponsoring a hole would be for businesses to buy the right to put signage or staff the hole during the event. For example, a coffee shop could sponsor a hole and give out samples to players.

The idea is that corporate sponsorship would lead to more money raised while dropping the price to pay for the participant.

As for the courses.. yes, Hudson is a much more "standard" course and a joy to play. However, Mulligan has a club house a liquor license. This means we could have two types of hot chocolate- Kid Friendly and Adult Friendly. :D
Also, the club house there makes and after party an easier option. I've approached them first. I'll follow up and approach Hudson if Mulligan doesn't pan out.

Keep the ideas coming... I need them, I do I do I do.

Life Banc is not on board for the Ice Bowl in 2009.

I'll keep everyone up to date as things evolve. THank you for all your support.

I might be able to round up some troops around here. Too far for a drive alone, but if I could get some others on board, I'd be totally down. Adv. mostly.

becareful when posting tournaments (if theres any $$, involved) as a few years ago a good friend of mine was warned from the Hudson Park Department that this isn't allowed in their park and legal action would happen if a tournament would happen at Hudson Springs. Maybe that's why there hasn't ever been a tournament there and the reason why I haven't played there since 9/11.

There is an Ice Bowl that I'm hosting in Canton @ Arboretum/ Spiker parks on Saturday January 24th.

3 divisions so far, I will consider a womens division if 3 or more showed up and wanted to open a division. But that's all the divisions i'm offering at this Ice Bowl. (I hear Wooster will having one the week prior at the Miles Specht Memorial Disc golf course in Freedlander Park.) EVERY participant will recieve a raffle ticket with paid entry as I'm giving away a basket. $10 of each players entry fee will go directly to the Akron- Canton Regional Food Bank. Muligans will be available for novice and advanced amatuer divisions only at 3 for $ 5 per round. cost of this event is $11 for the novice division and they will only play ONE round, $30 for advanced division and $50 for the Pro division. I've been runnnig an Ice Bowl tournament now for 16 years and I know all the faces or most of the faces and sandbagging won't be allowed, play your division. This tournaments isn't all about winning prizes, but more about having fun, raising money and awareness for the Akron- Canton Regional Food Bank and dispelling the gloom that NE Ohio brings upon us during the cold winter months. I am asking for all the players that plan to be at this fun Ice Bowl to bring one really cool newer disc for a prize (nothing will be deducted from your entry fee for doing this, but you will have a better feeling as it's better to give than to recieve, isn't it? 90 % of everything that I won and even some things that I've bought in the past year I'm giving away as prizes to the (greedy am players, I didn't just say that, did I??) Amatuer divisions. The reason why I'm offering the novice division only one round of play is that they're novices (not the serious advanced division that I normally play in) and I want them to get a taste of tournament life with hopes that they'll play in more tournaments, maybe they have wealthy parents and want to donate some $$ for upcoming tournaments in the NEO area in 2009 and beyond. We'll have an Ice Pool and if any one wants to bring some warm grub or some cold grub for others donations are more than welcome. If anyone wants to volenteer to be on the staff or has any questions for this Ice bowl please contact me at danhyzer@att.net or Jay at www.justdiscgolf.com if anyone wants disc golf apperall or discs contact Jay.

Hope to see all you hackers there. Cause there is one rule of this Ice Bowl that can not be questioned, either be there or be a wimp. under no circumstances can this Ice bowl be cancelled. either be there or be considered a wimp.

Damn. Too bad I'm 1,400 miles away. I loved that course when I played it...

Dan-
I've been in contact with Hudson and they were actually very happy about the idea of being involved in an ice bowl. This could be because it was for charity or because of a leadership change since you've dealt with them.

HOWEVER.. they do require the promoter to have a sizable insurance policy in place to use the facility. This has become too big of an obstacle for me to use it this winter. There is a chance I'll be doing something in the spring if I can get the insurance figured out.

So.. I might just be coming down to canton to play the ice bowl. Its not that far. :-)
