I thought I would create a new thread, I know there are several threads like this but I didn't want to jack someone elses thread, so please forgive the repetition.
I went with a buddy to play a doubles tournament in Hastings Mi, small little town south of Grand Rapids. We were both first timers and all in all we had a great time. We played in Am 1 and came in second to last, but still it was a lot of fun and I learned a couple of things. first I learned a little humility, I now realize what a great player shoots like, which you don't really get beating the same group of guys every weekend. Second, I got a sense for what it feels like to complete in a DG tourny, I am now looking forward to a competing in a singles tournament in September. Lastly, I learned the importance of knowing the course before you play. Me and my partner had never played this course before, I had walked it the day before the tournament but still felt very unsure where we were shooting. I should note that this course was very tight and technical, not crazy long but long enough, and you could not see most baskets from the tees.
Well I look forward to further competition and hopefully improved standings. I am also looking for any advice people have about tournys, things that I should think about, how do you prepare for a tourny etc...
Thanks
