Can I put money on Philo? I know Lane and Kyle have won in the past, and Paul is great (he has some broken fingers right now)... but, Philo was killing it in his final round at the USDGC. He's got great game and is playing great right now. Go Philo!

Yes! Some of the holes are crazy gnarly. All help is appreciated.

I'll talk to Rocky this Wed. and make sure there is room for my tent. My wife takes awesome pictures and wants to come, so you may get a strange e-mail with 1000's of pix.

So What Happened? Who won? How'd you do? How'd it go in general? How was the Keg Party? What kegs did you get? Etc... Fill us in on the other side of the country.

Kyle Crabtree beat Paul MacBeth by 2 points. Burl bear Liz Carr by 7.

I played amazingly awful. I was, seriously, missing 10 foot putts. I played a few days later and was back to hitting 25 footers no problem. Tourney nerves really suck. It didn't help that I was working or chasing the kids whenever I wasn't playing. Despite all that I played with some really cool people.

The party was awesome. We had a great dinner of tri-tip and chicken. The keg was great. Lengthwise brewery hooked us up. The full open bar was great. Burl hung out in our campsite and I tried to teach her how to play the djembe but I think she was too far gone.

Huk Lab put a giant banner on one of our water shots. It was amazing and looked like a "real" tournament.

Our awards ceremony was downright awful. Everybody put so much effort into everything else that nobody organized the ceremony. The trophies were really great.

Overall I'm really proud of the event. It was the biggest we've ever put on. The courses were challenging both physically and mentally.

I played in the tournament and I must say it was the best one I have been able to participate in. First off, the two courses were amazing. They did a great job with the additional temporary holes. There were some very memorable holes that I wish I could play next time I go back to Lake Casitas. The atmosphere was fantastic. It was very cool to have approximately 200 disc golfers camping and hanging out together all weekend. The full bar was a nice touch and the BBQ was some of the best I have ever had. I know I am using a lot of superlatives, but the tournament was that good.

There were only two areas that stood out as needing improvement... 1) Raffle. Do not let very drunk guys handle the drawing, organizing prizes, calling out numbers, etc. It was taking five plus minutes for each drawing. I couldn't stand it so I gave away my tickets and went back to my campsite. 2) Awards Ceremony. Very anti-climatic. It was getting late in the day and after a long weekend this needed to be special to keep everyone's attention and since it wasn't people just started drifting off and going home.

Those two drawbacks were very minimal in the big scheme of things though. I can't wait to play again next year. I would sign up now if they had the registration forms. I want to say a big thank you to zenbot, ventura tom and everyone else involved in putting on such a fun weekend of disc golf.
