i have a star destroyer and i like how it throws on long hyzer flips.
im thinking about getting a TeeRex for windier days since the destroyer rises too much in a headwind (i know discs are supposed to rise in a head wind)and even if there isn't any wind it still has a tendency to rise. maybe it's my angle of the nose?

i use a star wraith for windy shots now but i want to pick up something that can give a nice s curve into the wind.

any suggestions are appreciated

this is a mix of technique and equipment but leaning toward equipment. if i would have posted this in general disc golf discussion someone would have flipped out and told me i should have posted it here. so here is where i posted it

I am assuming that you get more distance with the Destroyer than the Wraith, correct?

I have a 175 Star TeeRex and I love it into the wind. It flies straight with just a little bit of turn in the middle and not much rise. I don't have a Destroyer so I can't make any comparisons, but from my experience TeeRex's are money on a windy day.

Maybe it's just me but I get better results with my Wraith than my Tee REx. Haven't tried the destroyer yet.

I just played Crystal Mountanin in WA. which is on a ski resort and watched Nate Sexton throwing Destroyers. I also found Wraiths, My SL, and surges helpful for huge windy downward shots.

thrown flat no. the wraith flies straighter and further flat but if i give the destroyer a little anny angle it goes about 20 ft further

it also seems people have TeeRexs or destroyers not both. i find that odd considering they described the destroyer as a faster TeeRex. it would seem the TeeRex lovers would have bought a destroyer

How about an XCaliber? I was turning my Destroyer -so i tried an xcaliber and threw it the same way -and no turnover - i would think it would hold up decently in a headwind. It also seems to have lots of glide for such a fast overstable disc. i have a Flick and that turns into a brick once it slows down - Xcal is impressive

maybe i should try that. but i find that most discraft drivers do that so i stay away from their drivers almost completely and it seems innova discs overall have better glide so i stick with consistent innovas :)

Is that sarcasm? It is so hard to tell. ;)

The monster is good into a head-wind because it has no glide. It's like throwing a smooth river rock.

I have a Destroyer, a Wraith, and a Teerex. The Destroyer and Wraith seem to have about the same flight pattern with the Destroyer being slightly more stable and just a hair longer, they're very similar. I can turn over both the Destroyer and the Wraith but not the Teerex-not even close. The Teerex is a great compliment to both or either the Destroyer and the Wraith. The Teerex is more stable and predictable than either and is much better into a head wind. I would describe the Teerex as a faster, more stable Starfire not a slower Destroyer. That's just my experience with the three molds anyway.

i bought a TeeRex and i love it. i have turned it over once but it is more accurate than the other 2 of my main drivers. the wind cant even touch this disc

for some reason i get better snap off my wraith than destroyer. any suggestions?

Off the top of my head, there could be a couple of different reasons for this-the Wraith is a little easier for me to throw. The Destroyer is a little faster and more stable, it needs a little more power to get up to speed than the Wraith. The Destroyer also has a wider rim and is harder to grip than the Wraith (for my small hands anyway), maybe concentrate on a strong power grip more when throwing the Destroyer.

I think the difference in the 3 is that the trex will always come back. It is possible to turn the destroyer and the wraith over to a point that they won't s out. Some of my longest throws in distance have been with these 3 discs along with an orc. You can count on the t-rex fading back at the end. I throw t-rex and destroyer and have just about left the Wraiths behind for some reason. Recently bought a trex x and turned it over something fierce, it would have probably come back in a n open field but hit a tree way to the right of the where I released. Have not thrown it enough to judge it yet. Great looking disc though.
