This course features a little bit of everything, with open and wooded fairways, elevation changes, multiple pin positions, some long and short tee pads and even an elevated pin. Nice concrete tee pads have already been poured and the baskets are anxiously awaiting their home.

Sept. 12th is a scheduled makeup work day at the course due to bad weather last weekend. If you have the time, please call him at 679-6400 to volunteer to help at any time. We would like to have people with weedeaters, gloves, hard tine rakes and shovels. All help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of distances are you going to have? Is it flat or with elevation? It looks like a big lay out with a lot of wide open shots. Not much use of the woods.

I kinda thought that also when I saw this map for the first time, but after going out there for the tee pad pouring, I was surprised by how much the woods come into play. The area around the parking lot is pretty flat but moving towards the back of the property is where the elevation comes into play. Not too steep but provides some interesting shots over or between tree lines and provides a great hole with an elevated tee that is a 500' tunnel shot through the woods.

There are fairways that start in the woods with the pin in the open. Then there are fairways that start in the open with the pin located in the woods or on the edge. And, there are some open holes including a long open hole (~500' short, ~900' long) and some wooded holes. One nice thing is that the city used a bull dozer to create some fairways which doesn't leave stumps in the fairway.

All in all, I was quite pleased the first time I saw the layout and was happy that there was good shade when the the tee pads were poured. I think this course is like having all of our local courses combined with wooded holes, open bomb shots, water coming into play, elevated tee pads, and an occasional tight long wooded hole. This is going to be a long course but there are definitely some shorter (300ft) birdie holes mixed in. Thankfully, a nice bench is provided on every hole.

I plan on taking my camera out this weekend and take some photos of the course and the new tee signs and check out the new pavilions and other stuff the city has constructed or finished recently.

Poles for the baskets are already in the ground. The delay in getting the baskets in has been waiting for the city departments to finish up some large scale work so that disc golfers are not in the way of big dump trucks and other construction vehicles. We must be getting close with this schedule work day. Whenever Lavone gives us the word we'll have our basket party. Maybe by end of this month or Oct. the baskets will be in.

Looks like the rainy weather over the last month or so has delayed the city in finishing up their work on the course. Some holes on the front that have multiple pin positions have a basket in each pin position as a way to store the baskets until the city completes their work. The first 5 or 6 holes are playable now with baskets in the ground.

**Update**
Baskets are now in on most every hole. People have been playing the course. The RCCG has moved this Sunday's Bag Tag Challenge round to Indian Creek. Pictures soon.

Thanks for the interest all. The course is open to play and ready to review (http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3692).

Thanks should go out to the Cities of Huntsville and Madison and their parks departments along with the members of the Rocket City Chain Gang and course designer and installer, Lavone Wolfe.
