I'm playing in the 2008 ace race and we have to throw the discs that come as part of the player package. Its not a production disc and they say that it flies like a buzz jr. I was just curious if any of you guys had already done the ace race in your area and if so can you give a little run down on the disc flight characteristics?

I saw an 07 and it looked pretty legit. It seemed to be understable like idisc said.

I have heard the same thing. There is going to be an ace race near me and I was planning to go but other things have popped up so I won't get to make it. :(

Sounds good. Mine is on the 27th in Austin.
Thanks for the help guys, but i think discraft uses a new prototype midrange disc every year.

I just played in an ace race today and here are my thoughts on this years disc.It flew very straight for me with a slight fade at the end and helped me hit one ace and 3 metals.
Its side profile looks exactly like my buzz's. The only difference I could see between my z buzz and the ace race disc was that the z buzz was slightly larger in diameter. I am talking no more than half a centimeter. The ace race disc was slightly more stable but that may have just been due to the fact that it was brand new.

I also played in an Ace race today. If you are more familiar with Innova more than Discraft, I would equate it with a Cro. The Plastic is also like Star Plastic so I guess it is ESP.
I was surprised to see that it had quite a bit of fade at low speeds because it seemed slightly under stable at high speeds.

Did anyone notice an uneven rim on the bottom of the Ace Race disc?
I have 2 176 Gram disc and both of them have the same imperfection.

I would agree that it fade at low speeds, not as much as I would expect though, and understable at high speed. Pretty straight with a tailing fade at the end. Also, it flutters at high speed before gliding into its natural flight. I don't like it as much as the impact.

Thanks for the info guys. My ace race is this coming Saturday so hopefully I'll fair as well as the darktoaster.

I thought the disc was very stable with a little slow speed overstability. It didn't anhyzer too easily for me. It did tomahawk well though (just fades right) and I almost hit an ace this way in the second round. To me it seemed to fly like a nice new BB Aviar Driver (with a much better shape).
