So this past weekend I found out that the great people of Windsor Colorado will be getting a new Disc Golf Course after the tornado took out Chimney Park DGC a while back now.

Bill at Wright Life confirmed this at the CO States with Shawn Aschliman being the person heading up the project. Word is that it is going to be an amazing course.

The details from Bill state, "The area is the "Oxbow" area near Kodak Park I believe. It's very close to where the skate park is. It's rough land but they will be mowing."

I know I am mostly excited about this because it is walking distance from my parents new retirement home. I hope it turns out well and would love to help make this course amazing. Anyone else as excited as I am?

More DG in Colorado is always a good thing.

Interesting. Is it in a flat area closer to 25, or farther back in town where there are some rolling hills? It'd be nice to hit a new course on my trips to Cheyenne.

Found the skate park mentioned on google maps, here is a look at the area this course is going in at. The skatepark is right in the middle.

This is a very accurate map of the area that it is going in. There are some hills there but not many.

Interesting. Do they have a timeline?
It is going to be a little while yet though I think the plan may have the course going in sometime in 2010. I am sure if we all can get in contact with the guy putting it in and volunteer to help it might get done sooner. I'll post info when I can get it.

Here is the latest from Shawn who is heading up this project.

"I'm very happy about it, too! Basically, Parks & Rec gave us permission touse the land for a course, so right now we are working onfundraising/donations to get it started. Then we will have some work days -so yes, volunteer help will be needed! It looks like a 12-hole course...alittle rough land, and with lots of trees. Not as many as Beaver Meadows! It should be fun. I can let you know when we need help. If you go to Eastman Park and drivepast the skate park to where the road dead ends, look to the right - that'sthe spot. Thanks!Shawn"

12 holes hmmmm. I thought it was going to be in the area directly across from the skatepark, but the area further down looks ok too. Hit me up when help is needed.

There is an update for this course. There is going to be a fundraiser the 21st and 22nd of November, 2009. There is a flyer up in the Mile High Disc Golf Club web page and can be seen by clicking here (http://www.mhdgc.org/files/Oxbow.pdf). Any Colorado peeps out there lets support this and make sure that we get another quality course!
