My Great Aunt turned 90 a few weeks ago. The party was held at my aunt/uncles house - they have a HUGE property. As we were driving up the driveway i saw some people holding discs. I was like what the hell - had to double take - yep they were DG discs - my cousin had a quadshocks and huge tourney bag on his back.
after i figured out what was going on- they had actually made 5 disc golf holes all over their property with 5 real baskets - 3 of which involved the pond

I was pumped because I had actually brought along my discs cause wanted to play at a course after the party. I played a round with my brother and my dad. It was really awesome i would have stayed all day.

It was cool to find out that i had relatives that played and even cooler that the ones who were into DG didnt even live there - and aunt/uncle put in permanent DG holes in their yard.

That kind of stuff never happens to me. I would go to the same party and people would be carrying lawn darts or scrabble.

I should add there was a beer tent - so you could play 5 - grab a bru at the turn and play another round

COME ON! Are you sure this wasn't some crazy dream you had?!? Next you are going to tell us that there were naked chicks handing out $100 bills.

That would have to be one of the coolest things to happen by chance, relating to our game. This was great to hear. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hey now, Scrabble is a sweet game.

On a somewhat related note, I recently introduced my parents to DG and they really enjoyed it. They have about a half-acre backyard and my Dad mentioned that he was going to buy a basket. I was super pumped...just another reason to go visit.

Right, I'm not dissing Scrabble...but if you are comparing it to disc golf and beer tents there's really not much use. :D

So how would you rate the family course?

trying to not be overly biased - for a 5 hole course - I'd give it a 3.5-4 - gets a 5 on Hole variety: - 1st was a wide open straight hole - 2nd was a long tunnel shot into the woods - 3rd was a shorter water hole the basket was sort of on a peninsula/point. 4th was another water shot that sort of doglegged left at the end ;5th hole was a dogleg right

the course gets a 3 for length - it was on the shortside -
the two longer holes had permanent Discatchers - the last 3 holes had movable Discatchers with wheels. So it could have been made longer - i'm thinking it was shorter that day due to the fact there were new people from the Bday event playing.

playing the course backwards would also be something to try. Would give at least 5 more hole options. They still have a lot more real estate to work with plus they own a construction company which helps especially if they wanted to do some crazy things. they could make hills at will. i'll need to see if they plan on expanding
