I played at CMC Leadville yesterday. I was wondering if at over 10000 ft, if it was the highest disc golf course in the Country, World?

I hear there's a tough 18 holer on top of Mt. Everest. It's a favorite amongst sherpas.
I'm not sure which is the highest but Colorado is certainly a strong contender to hold that title There are quite a few courses on the site located in ski areas where you have to take a lift, etc. but am clueless as far as their elevation.

Yes those are higher, but they come down during ski season. I should have stated "year around course". You are right however, it isn't even the highest course in Colorado.

The highest course in the world is the Aspen Mountain course, home of the "Kiss the Sky" tourney, at 11,212 feet (if I remember correctly). The city of Leadville itself is at 10,153 ft. (my family had a cabin near there when I was a kid), so the CMC-L course is probably at about 10,300 or so.
Here's Aspen's course sign, which includes the superlative claim:

All the tee signs say it, too: "Highest Disc Golf Course In The World!"
And here's some visual perspective on just how insanely high-up this course is:

A breathtaking place. Everyone on this forum should see it before they die. :-)

Well, the sign actually says "Highest disc golf in the world." It doesn't have the word "course" in there, so it makes one wonder if that sentence refers to the course elevation or to something else (discussed on another thread). ;)

Wonder what's the highest east of the Mississippi ?

After some quick research, I'm going to go with Fontana Village Resort DGC in Fontana Dam, North Carolina as the highest east-of-the-Mississippi course. It's right in the Great Smoky Mountains, and right across the border from Clingman's Dome, the highest point in Tennessee at 6,643 feet. (The highest point east of the Mississippi is 6,684 feet -- Mt. Mitchell near Asheville, NC. The courses in Asheville aren't close enough to it to be likely to challenge Fontana.)
This is just some deductive reasoning, so Fontana may not be literally #1. But it should be pretty darn close.
Good times.

Grab an IPA @ the Golden Burro for me.

Fontana Dam is several thousand feet down from the top of Clingman's Dome. By example, the "Fontana Dam shelter" on the Appalachian trail is listed at 1775', and I don't believe the village is much higher. The difference here is that Fontana Dam is down in the river valley at the Southern end of the Smokies, far below the 5-6000' ridgeline. By comparison, Asheville, NC, is around 2100' above sea level. For these reasons, I'm not convinced that the Fontana Dam course is even the highest in NC.

I think we need to get that thread going again. It was so much fun!
