Object Courses

I have ZERO course design experience...

Anyone ever designate an object course? Friends and I have been talking about laying one out in a small area that would be about the size of a 9 hole course. What should we keep in mind when making the holes? What do you look for when your trying to find natural fairways? Sorry if this is all vague...

We used to do this all the time as a kid growing up in MI. Lots of good terrain, trees galore. We'd just mark the trees with 2 ribbons or this stretchy elastic construction tape with the bottom about 2-1/2 ft above ground, and the top about 4-1/2 ft above ground. Hit the trunk between the 2 tapes and it's in. It is a lot of fun picking out the holes, seeing the lines, and adjusting as needed. This is really where i got into night golf as well, as you could pick up a game anywhere if you had your bag and a roll of construction tape.
