Does anyone know about the current status of the Lake Shore DGC in Pleasant Hill (http://www.pleasanthill.com/ParksandRecreation/DiscGolfCourse/tabid/1213/Default.aspx) MO. It's southeast of Kansas City. The KCFDC (http://www.kcfdc.org/pleasanthill.html)lists it as a course, but there's no info in any directory on DGCR or the PDGA. Is it finished and playable? When was it established? I might be able to play there this weekend if I can get any info. I just learned of it yesterday.

Any info that you can provide quickly would be appreciated.

The course is about a year old now, and just went through a slight re-design, which I've not seen yet. It's a gorgeous setting right on Pleasant Hill Lake far from the urban bustle and features a nice mix of shortish to moderate holes through some mature trees. I believe the re-design includes at least one wooded hole. There's not much elevation change but the course is well maintained. All and all, this course near Pleasant Hill is, I hate to say it, but, it is "pleasant." For more information....

Thanks Rick,

Not sure if I can get there on this trip, but I'll definitely add it to the Wish List. Someone needs to add it to the PDGA and DGCR directories too.

Good to see you on here. I'm Lowe from Raleigh NC, if you remember me. I wrote an article about the Great 8 for DGW a while back, and we met at the USDGC in 2001.

Take care.

It's a nice Roc course. Overall it is pretty decent and the setting is beautiful. On the negative side, it seemed like we could have played two courses in the time it took to get out there. Kansas City has some top notch courses, so if you were traveling there and wanted to play a handful of courses it would be hard to recommend Pleasant Hill over Waterworks, Rosedale, Cliff Drive, Wyco, etc. I'd have to rate it 7th or 8th out of your options of places to pley there.

It's not so unusually for a course to not be on the PDGA site. I have talked to a couple of parks departments who said they don't want the disc golf course to generate tourism and they have no interest in hosting PDGA events. They installed a disc golf course for the enjoyment of their residents, so for them posting the course on PDGA.com makes no sense...they don't want you wandering in from out of town and using their parks. I have no idea if this is the case with Pleasant Hill, but it happens.

As for KC, their courses are some of those under represented courses on this site. There has not been enough reviews written on them, but if and when they do they will rate very high. I'm not sure what accounts for the lack of reviews...a lot of University of Kansas grads move to KC, and we all know how hard reading and writing is for those folks, so that might be the problem. :D
